The Oregonian’s editorial page editor died over the weekend of a heart attack. As much as we’ve often spoken of media bias–and there certainly is–Bob Caldwell made an attempt at the Zero to bring balance on a particularly prickly issue of public policy.

Scientists skeptical of the man made global warming theorists found in Caldwell a person willing to allow space on the editorial page to air differences despite the political ramifications it may have brought to the Oregonian.

In the very least, Bob was a good listener. Don’t know that The O ever would have let us step foot inside its building if not for him

This is terrible news!  Bob was the only one who was fair…

I gave the guy a lot  of grief over the years.  RIP Bob.

Sad that these man made global warming skeptics feel the only one at the newspaper of record who listened to them just left the planet.

Bob Caldwell, I hope you taught your underlings well. We’ll need some fairness on the editorial pages. I hope it didn’t die with you.
