Oh, my, outgoing Congressman Brian Baird has certainly made waves getting ready to retire from his gig as 3rd Congressional District Representative. In an exit interview of sorts with McClatchy news service here, Baird announces that he’s no longer a good fit for the 3rd CD:
Baird said the 3rd District has become increasingly conservative as Californians fleeing high taxes and illegal immigrants settle there, especially in Clark County.
But the real surprise? He’s moving to Edmonds where he’s considering a run in Jay Inslee’s seat in the First Congressional Seat:
The 1st Congressional District would be a more comfortable fit politically for Baird…

Baird is moving to Edmonds , in the 1st Congressional District north and east of Lake Washington currently represented by Democratic Rep. Jay Inslee. If Inslee were to run for governor in 2012, as many expect, the congressional seat would be open.
Baird has $450,000 left over in his Congressional war chest. Good seed money for a run for Congress.
On Nancy Pelosi’s leadership he claims he wouldn’t vote for her for leadership again because she’s a big bully.
She (Pelosi) does not listen to other people. She only listens to people she agrees with unless she needs your vote.”
Now more than ever it should be worth noting how our elected representatives choose to vote on the party leadership positions. It may be the most important vote they take of the session.
