B-Ho on Faith Based Initiatives: Churches Can’t Discriminate Against Employees on Basis of Religion

If the church receives government funding to help folks, the last thing the faith based group wants is for the government to dictate who should be on the church payroll. That’s why NO ONE should trust Barack Obama’s pledge to EXPAND the faith based initiative started by President Bush. No one trusts him to do it with sensitivity and respect for the faith groups.
On the other hand, maybe his poison pill contained in the quote below is exactly what he wants: to kill the faith based initiative by making the conditions under which a faith group participates untenable.
Here are his own words:
“First,” he said, “if you get a federal grant, you can’t use that grant money to proselytize to the people you help, and you can’t discriminate against them —
or against the people you hire — on the basis of their religion.” Rest here.
