Where’s Media Coverage of Hero Who Likely Stopped More Carnage at Clackamas Town Center?

Where’s the national coverage for a hero who likely stopped more killings at the Clackamas Town Center? I’ll tell you where, conveniently stuffed, that’s where. And that’s because he pulled out his politically incorrect Glock 22, pointed it at the gunman, and the next person the gunman likely shot was himself.

As Nick Meli told KGW:

“I know after he saw me I think that the last shot he fired was the one he used on himself.’

It seems to me to be a natural secondary follow up story to the shooting stories from last week. But that would be an inconvenient fact to the national news

media falling all over themselves discussing gun bans instead of how guns can save and have saved lives.

Although law enforcement wouldn’t divulge Nick Meli’s version of events to The Victoria Taft Show, the Zero got a confirmation.

Authorities confirmed Monday that Meli was seen during the incident, gun drawn, near the entrance to Macy’s inside the mall.

This must have been particularly galling to the woman reporter who knocked on Meli’s door at 7:30 yesterday morning. Meli told me via facebook:

I didn’t speak with her only told her to leave and that I’m annoyed with people coming to my house, I could tell she was anti guns just buy [sic] her question “we want to know why you had a gun in a gun free zone”

That’s a great opening question. The guy saves possibly dozens of lives and she asks him why he brought a gun to the mall.

Meli told me:

…Outta sight outta mind, not one person in that mall knew I had that on me until it was needed.

Of course, as you read here he’s not the only packing at the mall these days.

While the news media fall all over themselves “covering” Di Fi’s warmed over “assault” weapons ban, the story about the trained, even tempered concealed weapons license holder who pulled his own gun –but didn’t shoot–and saved possibly dozens of lives is yet unknown by the rest of the country.

Pete the Banker: Ending Mortgage Deduction Part of Democrat Plan

Didn’t Obama and his minions promise no taxes on the suffering middle class?  Looks like his base of support is readying a real Christmas surprise.
“The Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank, unveiled a tax reform plan (pdf) on Dec. 4 to raise $1.8 trillion in revenue. It tackles most of the big-ticket items, including raising top marginal income-tax rates (to a Clinton-era 39.6 percent), the top capital gains rate (to 28 percent), and treating carried interest and dividends as ordinary income (sorry, Mitt Romney). It also addresses what may be thought of as the third-rail of tax reform—the cherished but costly mortgage-interest deduction—by eliminating it.”

SLAPPing Back at Hide the Decline Global Warmist Michael Mann. "Free Speech Denier"

The Competitive Enterprise Institute, columnist Mark Steyn and the National Review have struck back at Penn State man made global warming guru Michael Mann and his lawsuit against them.

Baker Hostetler attorney David Rivkin has filed a motion to dismiss Mann’s libel lawsuit against the group under DC’s Anti SLAPP (Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation) law.

“It’s ironic that an advocate of global warming is trying to freeze debate on this issue,” said Sam Kazman, CEI General Counsel.  “Michael Mann likes to use the term ‘denier’, but in this case he himself is the free-speech denier.”

The group declared Mann intentionally left out a period of data in his infamous hockey stick graph which he contended demonstrated a dramatic rise in temperatures. He left out a period of declining temperatures, thus making his graph look more dramatic. See the explanation in the “Hide the Decline” video below.

The group also faulted the scientific community which “investigated” Mann’s data irregularities and claims it papered over his missteps. In the lawsuit they call for a more thoroughgoing examination of Mann and his work.

The group claims Mann actually admits he suffered no real harm from their investigation of his work but filed a lawsuit anyway. Rivkin says this is a nuisance lawsuit meant to harass and shut up his detractors.

Rivkin says this lawsuit isn’t about global warming or which side is right, it argues that the First Amendment covers controversies over scientific argument.

It is ironic that a man whose tenure gives him academic cover to say and study  just about anything he wants, does not want people who disagree with him to have that same right.
