Report: The Orb Behind Orbusmax, Jim Walker, Has Died.

His logo is upside down on his page tonight and I heard from a friend he had passed. Not officially confirmed until I get an email in the inbox from Jim himself, of course.

Jim posted Bible verses on his website. Today’s installment:

… Whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

 John 3:16
He was a good man trying to scratch out a life on the web and because of his grit we all got a lot smarter. Jim Walker, I can’t believe you’re gone. You will be missed.

Hanna Out; As Expected House Republicans Elect Mike McLane Oregon House GOP Leader; Parrish Muscles #2 Spot

Here’s the missive from the GOP office:
OREGON HOUSE REPUBLICANS

HOUSE REPUBLICANS ELECT NEW CAUCUS LEADERSHIP FOR 2013
SALEM—Oregon House Republicans today elected new leadership at their traditional post-election caucus meeting.  The caucus selected Rep. Mike McLane (R-Powell Butte) as the new House Republican Leader.

“After regrouping from Tuesday’s elections, House Republicans are united heading into the 2013 session,” said Rep. McLane, who’ll begin his second term in January. “I’m excited and privileged to lead House Republicans into the next session. I’ll work constructively with Democrats in the same spirit of bipartisanship that has delivered good results for Oregonians.”
The new Deputy Republican Leader, Rep. Julie Parrish (R-West Linn) said House Republicans will soon release a 2013 policy agenda for the upcoming session.
“Oregon led the nation in new jobless claims last week,” Rep. Parrish said.  “As our state suffers from high unemployment, Oregonians need their Legislature to pass measures that will help fix our broken economy. We will, once again, offer an agenda focused on creating jobs, in addition to improving our schools and holding state government accountable.”
The new House Republican Whip, Rep. Vicki Berger (R-Salem) said the caucus will utilize the knowledge, experience and talents of all caucus members throughout the upcoming legislative session.
“Every member of our caucus will play an important role as we work to move Oregon forward,” Rep. Berger said.  “We will certainly have disagreements with Democrats next session, but our members are ready to reach across the aisle- in committee and on the House Floor- to advance legislation that benefits all Oregonians.”
In order to allow new leaders among the caucus to emerge, outgoing House Co-Speaker Bruce Hanna (R-Roseburg) chose not to seek a leadership position for 2013.
“It’s been my honor to serve as Co-Speaker. I’m very proud of what the caucus and the entire Oregon House has accomplished under co-governance, and hope and expect that to continue into the next term,” Co-Speaker Hanna said. “After serving over six years in various leadership positions, I look forward to handing the reins to the new team.  I’m confident they will effectively lead our caucus into the next session and into the future.”

**UPDATE** Clackamas County Election Wins May Be Road Map for Conservatives Around Oregon

UPDATE BELOW!!!!
When the unpacking of the national election is done, when Oregon GOP Leader Allen Alley’s self deprecating tweets about needing new (political) plays from Chip Kelly are vapor in the twitterverse, there will be Clackamas County. And there’s a good story to tell for conservative minded folks there.

John Ludlow and Tootie Smith won seats on the Clackamas County Commission in Tuesday’s election. Together with Paul Savas, these three will be able to block incursions from the smart growth set at Metro and Multnomah County which are hellbent on creating New York on the Willamette (minus the wealth), beginning with budget busting Loot Rail.

The naked attempts by the Clackamas County Commission to cram light rail into the city of Milwaukie–and saddle the tax payers with Tri Met’s slowly-bankrupting-trainwreck of a system riled voters. The coup de grace occurred when, even after voters were plainly going to say no to light rail, Chair Charlotte Lehan, Jamie Damon and Jim Bernard surreptitiously secured a bank loan to get around voter approved bonds–four days before a special election on the matter. Lehan and Damon lost their jobs Tuesday night.**

In Clackamas County people like a little space: back yards, dogs, horses, compost piles, gardens. These are all the things the citified folks at Multnomah County claim to desire but choose to have the government to provide such as government dog parks, ‘community’ (government) gardens, government compost bins, and horses– for government officials (cops), of course.

Damascus hired back Steve Spinnett as Mayor and voted in two of three candidates who ran on an anti Metro slate. Damascus is where the so called Clackastani Rebellion started under the activism of Dan Phegley who, ironically,  lost his race by a wisp on Tuesday night.

Spinnett was being savaged by the lefties in town who verbally and publicly attacked his wife and destroyed dozens of his signs in an intimidation campaign. It got so nasty, the City Manager along with key Council Members, contrived to deprive Spinnett of being able to set the Council Agenda–a stated job of the Mayor.

Two community members, Spinnett proponents, were thrown out of meetings and banished from appearing for months.  One was a 60 something Grandmother who urged the City Manager to listen to her points and as she left said, “Off, off with their heads!” ala Alice in Wonderland. In reply, Spinnett’s Council  opponents took her words as a literal threat and banned her from the meetings.
The City, faced with a lawsuit for having no such policy to toss people out, has reportedly relented. (see video below)

Though there are some other troubling signs for Clackamas County–voting for many Democrats including our far left President and his brother from another mother, Earl Bow Tie Blumenauer, there was a solid victory on Tuesday night for conservatives.

If nothing else, the Clackastani Rebellion has shown that a heart felt, well funded, targeted and disciplined campaign can begin to insert a little common sense into the Oregon political process.

It’s a start.

**Play Oregon’s newest political game! Corrupt-o-crat is the guessing game that let’s YOU predict how people will be politically paid off! Look for new jobs for Lehan and Damon on a paid board, state agency or something with a voter paid pension. Stay tuned!**
UPDATE!!!! Just hours after posting this the Portland Tribune publishes the story about Jamie Damon’s pay back.

Pete the Banker: Obama’s Depression

Harry Dent , the economic demographer suggests the next 3 -4 yrs is going to be worse than past 4 yrs. He has been very accurate over past decade. Since even a liberal economist like Shiller [of Case-Shiller Index fame] is suggesting it may take 50 yrs for housing to regain its past status, Dents position seems pretty conservative.

It may be that Obama won a Pyrrhic victory. If he is faced with disaster over next four years and handles as he has done over past four years by ignoring it, his charisma won’t save him or Democrats.

Republicans will attempt to stop the slide and be denounced as obstructionists.

Rees Lloyd: Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial Cross Found In Time to Go Back Up on Veteran’s Day at 11am on 11-11-12

Notwithstanding all the abusive (and profit-making)  litigation of the extremist ACLU(on behalf of Oregon’s Frank Buono) , and like-minded intolerant liberal secular fanatics who stole the Mojave Desert WWI Veterans Memorial Cross, the Cross shall rise again on Sunrise Rock at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month on what used to be WWI Armistice Day and now is Veterans Day, Nov. 12, 2012
And it also appears that the original cross–stolen off the rock outcropping–has been found. From the Press Enterprise:

Two years ago, the cross vanished from its perch in the Mojave National Preserve following a U.S. Supreme Court decision allowing it to stand. This week, authorities believe they found the stolen memorial more than 500 miles away in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco.

Affixed to a fence post with plastic ties, the seven-foot cross was found in good condition late Monday, Nov. 5. Attached to it was a note identifying the cross as an “important historical artifact” and asking whoever found it to alert the authorities.
Rebecca Rosenblatt of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department said investigators believed the cross was the same one stolen from the Mojave Desert. She described their efforts to confirm its authenticity as “similar to identifying a lost child with scars or birthmarks.”

Henry and Wanda Sandoz, who have served as caretakers of the cross for decades, were not so sure. They viewed photographs that showed a box-shaped piece at the base of the cross that was not part of the original construction, Wanda Sandoz said. Either way, the couple intend to go ahead with plans to install a replacement cross this weekend.

I thank and salute Henry and Wanda Sandoz, Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-CA), American Legionnaires, VFW members, and other veterans and patriots for taking a stand against the secular extremism of the ACLU and thereby preserving the Cross and the right of Americans to decide how to honor their war dead and the service of other veterans, without a veto power being held over such decision by intolerant, totalitarian liberal secular extremists epitomized by the ACLU, which has become the Taliban of American liberal secularism.

Pete the Banker: Boeing Announces Lay Offs the Day After Election

Hmm… curious timing, the day after the election Wonder why that happened?? Sequester, anyone? Boeing says no, but you be the judge:

Boeing, the Pentagon’s second-largest supplier, said the changes were the latest step in an affordability drive that has already reduced the company’s costs by $2.2 billion since 2010, according to the memo.

The measures come as U.S. weapons makers are under pressure to cut costs and preserve profit margins amid dwindling defense spending in the U.S.
Boeing said the changes were not a response to the threat of additional, across-the-board U.S. budget cuts due to take effect on Jan. 2, or the outcome of U.S. elections, but represented another step in its continuing drive to “be more competitive while investing in technologies and people.”
Boeing said it could not project exactly how workers would lose their jobs because it would try to place people in its growing commercial business.
