Liberal Democrats Worried About Losing the Senate Now

From the Liberal Magazine the New Republic, Attention, Democrats! The Senate Is Now in Play, we read,

“As if things weren’t bad enough for Democrats, something I didn’t believe possible six months ago has happened: The Senate is now in play. You don’t believe it, dear reader? Let’s look at the numbers.”

CA Fiorina (R) 47, Boxer (D) 45

CO Buck (R) 48, Bennet (D) 39

FL Rubio (R) 36, Crist (I) 34, Meek (D) 15

IL Giannoulias (D) 40, Kirk (R) 39

KY Paul (R) 43, Conway (D) 43

MO Blunt (R) 48, Carnahan (D) 43

NV Angle (R) 48, Reid (D) 41

OH Portman (R) 43, Fisher (D) 39

PA Toomey (R) 45, Sestak (D) 39

WA Murray (D) 47, Rossi (R) 47

WI Feingold (D) 45, Johnson (R) 43

The numbers are taken from Real Clear Politics and said to be from Rasmussen.

A look at today’s numbers from Rasmussen shows “Dino Rossi and Clint Didier both earning 48% to Patty Murray’s 45%.

Rasmussen points out, “Incumbents that fall short of 50% at this stage of a campaign are considered potentially vulnerable, but worrisome for Murray is that this is her poorest showing of the year.”

"Plastic" Bag Ban: Portland to Issue GOVERNMENT SHOPPING BAGS to Proletariat

Lookie here. In addition to a plastic bag ban we now have GOVERNMENT ISSUED GROCERY BAGS!
And look here in Exhibit A, part D. Hey and don’t worry proletarians the government is going to instruct you on how to pick up dog poop. Note the government apparatchiks will deign to let you keep your produce bags. For now.

It never fails:  Conservatives who don’t want to use plastic grocery bags, don’t use plastic grocery bags.  Liberals who don’t want to use plastic grocery bags, will make it impossible for anyone to use them.

"Plastic" Bag Ban: Phony Poll; Government Issued Shopping Bags

Sam Adams calls on this phony poll to give him cover for banning “plastic” (really ethane) bags. See (here)his triumphant press release today invoking the phony poll as political cover.
We asked two pollsters to give their opinions on this poll question. One said he wouldn’t touch this with a ten foot poll (heh), the other said the question was “appalling,” and a “socially correct” question designed to get a preordained outcome. See what YOU think:

“Single-use petroleum-based plastic shopping bags pollute our land, contribute to a swirling mass of garbage twice the size of Texas off Oregon’s coast, and continue our dependence on dangerous foreign oil supplies. Making paper shopping bags is a toxic process that pollutes our rivers. To encourage more use of reusable shopping bags, do you favor or oppose banning plastic bags in the City of Portland and requiring a 5-cent fee on paper bags?”

As one 5th listener put it:

New poll results just in!

80% OPPOSE the ban on plastic grocery bags.

Poll question:
Portland’s pedophile mayor, Sam Adams, wants plastic grocery bags banned. The bill will put bag companies out of business and their employees out of work. It will create unfair disadvantages to some businesses. It will insert more government control into your personal life. It will increase the use of reusable bags that are shown to be filled with filth and bacteria. It imposes another tax on the poor. Do you support the ban on plastic bags?

Margin of error: +/- 50%

it’s all in the wording.
