Al Gore accused of sexual assault during 2006 visit to Portland

A brief article in the Zero with a link to the National Enquirer, who broke the John Edwards sex scandal.

“The National Enquirer, which won nods as a 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist for uncovering John Edward’s secret love child, now reports that former Vice President Al Gore was accused of sexual assault during a visit to promote climate change in Portland in 2006.”

“No criminal charges were brought against Gore, but the Portland police prepared a document marked “Confidential Special Report” – which records the explosive allegations of “unwanted sexual contact” by Al Gore “at a local upscale hotel.”

If true, apparently promoting the global warming hoax isn’t the only thing on Gore’s mind these past few years.

Prison Inmates Received $Millions in Homebuyer Tax Credit

From an article in CNBC

“Nearly 1,300 prison inmates wrongly received more than $9 million in tax credits for homebuyers despite being locked up when they claimed they bought a home, a government investigator reported Wednesday.”

“The investigator said 241 of the inmates were serving life sentences.”

“Some taxpayers received the credit for homes purchased before the tax break was started. In other cases, multiple taxpayers improperly used the same home to claim multiple credits. Investigators found one home that was used by 67 taxpayers to claim credits.”

Just another massive government bailout failure.

The IRS is attempting to recover the funds.

New-home sales plunge 33 pct with tax credits gone

In today’s Washington Post

WASHINGTON — Sales of new homes collapsed in May, sinking 33 percent to the lowest level on record as potential buyers stopped shopping for homes once they could no longer receive government tax credits.

The bleak report from the Commerce Department is the first sign of how the end of federal tax credits could weigh on the nation’s housing market.

The credits expired April 30. That’s when a new-home buyer would have had to sign a contract to qualify.

“We fear that the appetite to buy a home has disappeared alongside the tax credit,” Paul Dales, U.S. economist with Capital Economics,” wrote in a note. “After all, unemployment remains high, job security is low and credit conditions are tight.”

What was that about signs of recovery in this “Great Recession?”

Wa. Congresscritter Brian Baird Applauds Oil Spill Response

Today’s Columbian headline, Baird applauds response to oil spill, After tour of Gulf, Congressman says Obama, BP doing ‘pretty good job,’ but not Louisiana Gov. Jindal

“I don’t think the public has an appreciation of the magnitude of the effort to respond to this.”

“We’ve got to give credit where credit’s due. The Obama administration has done a pretty good job, and compared to other companies, BP has done a pretty good job.”

“I have very little patience with the governor of Louisiana. The game is, if you are a local official, pick a tremendously costly, questionably effective and scientifically dubious measure, demand that the federal government do it, and if they balk for either fiscal or scientific reasons, blame them and say they just don’t care.”

Is Baird sucking up for an administration job in the Obama White House after he retires in January?

He seems to be the only person to date applauding Obama’s golf games while the Gulf of Mexico languishes in oil washing up on beaches. What has Obama done except play golf and visit for photo ops?

Mexico Joins Lawsuit Against Arizona Which Just Confirms We’re Right. Not a Joke. Wish it Was. Guess What I’m Talking About Tomorrow?

From Fox here.
‘Scuse me, but has anyone ever heard of sovereignty and, uh, what about standing in this case for Mexico?

Mexico on Tuesday asked a federal court in Arizona to declare the state’s new immigration law unconstitutional, arguing that the country’s own interests and its citizens’ rights are at stake.
Lawyers for Mexico on Tuesday submitted a legal brief in support of one of five lawsuits challenging the law. The law will take effect July 29 unless implementation is blocked by a court.
