From an article in CNS News.com, Los Angeles Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa who has signed on to his cities boycott of Arizona over their recent bill on Illegal Immigration, said to a CNS reporter, “In California, I think there’s a real sense that these immigrants provide a great deal to the economic might of the state.”
With a state budget shortfall of more than $18 billion and Mayor of a city running a $485 million deficit, Villaraigosa says “he believes immigration in general is a net plus for the country.”
Mercury News.com is reporting the Los Angeles City Council is currently considering laying off 1,000 city workers to help make up the $485 Million budget shortfall they face.
The LA Times is reporting that Gov. Schwarzenegger’s budget proposal would “eliminate the state’s welfare-to-work program and most child care for the poor,” and “freeze funding for local schools, further cut state workers’ pay and take away 60% of state money for local mental health programs.”
In the spirit of state friendship and in order to further help Los Angeles, perhaps Arizona, Oregon and Washington should send all of their Illegal Immigrants to Los Angeles to help them continue to thrive economically.
