Conestoga Teacher Fund Raised and Posted Anti Tea Party Rants on School Time

The question is whether he did it on breaks etc.but check this out:
For a guy who teaches school he sure blogs and tweets a lot during school hours. How many classes does Jason Levin teach anyway? Oh, and look, he’s fundraising during school hours!

"Whether We Like It Or Not?"

I can’t honestly say I have ever heard of any president, Democrat or Republican, saying, “Whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower.”

“Whether we like it or not?” Is he embarrassed to be placed at the helm of the greatest nation of freedom and liberty ever seen on this planet?

Or does he simply prefer to make this another third world country?

Oppressives on CBC Video: You Don’t See What You’re Really Seeing

We shared this copiously on the air yesterday. It was the “Outrage of the Day.” This recording, found on the Big Government website, was made by a Washington Times reporter (on the show today) that captures the walk through the “Kill the Bill!” chanting Tea Party folks on the day of the health care vote. Members of the caucus, like Nancy Pelosi, walked through the crowd, when they could have gone around, in order to get their photo ops of them standing up to the Tea Party protesters. From this crowd walk grew the story, now debunked
(here, here) that Tea Partiers hurled racist slurs at the Congressmen. No evidence of the slurs have ever been uncovered. (If it ever is I’ll apologize. So far that isn’t necessary.)
Once again observe the guy at the end of the video. What’s he holding? I’ll come back to that in a minute.

Despite the array of news media, Tea Partiers with recorders, cameras etc,  no one ever captured one utterance of the “N” word hurled at the Congressmen, including that guy with the RECORDER in his hand. Still, without evidence and without thinking, the compliant media reported the “story” because it comports with what they’d been told by the left about the Tea Party Patriots.
Now Salon is reporting that the video doesn’t actually capture the original walk through the crowd! This is apparently a facsimile of a walk through the crowd. The “N” word hurling invective occurred during ANOTHER walk through the crowd. I’ll find out today. Be listening between 11-3pm. I don’t know what time the Washington Times reporter is coming on to talk about it.

Justice Stevens Didn’t Stand Up for the "Little Guy"

You should read this piece here. Excerpts:

These include minor property cases, such as Dolan v. City of Tigard, in which Stevens, in a dissent, argued for the government’s right to force a store owner to place a public green on her property.
But the case that figures most prominently in Stevens’ legacy is Kelo v. New London. It set a precedent that exposed the dark consequences of liberalism’s sympathy for Big Government.
Stevens’ Kelo opinion leaned on the noble pillar of “deference to legislative judgment,” but that profession of humility is hard to swallow from a man who also spent his career smashing any legislative attempts to protect the unborn. Abortion, of course, is another issue where the voiceless, vulnerable, little guy didn’t find an advocate in Stevens.

PDX Consent Agenda: Where the "Magic" Happens!

Ask any current or former insider at City Hall and they’ll tell you the ‘consent agenda’ is where many otherwise unpopular programs are “hidden” on an agenda, funded and passed without much scrutiny.
You can click on the photo there and look at what you can’t really see: The consent agenda. See that little sucker there? That’s an EXPENSIVE dash declaring nobody gets to talk about the city’s latest screw up. And THAT’S where the magic happens!
It’s just a line item without any programs attached. But now look what Willamette Week mentioned in a story about what’s on the consent agenda today:

City Council will vote on its regular consent agenda, and when it does it is expected to approve the addition of $8.6 million [PDF] to the $19.3 million price of the Portsmouth Force Main Segment 2 construction project.

What is that you ask? That’s the little item where we find out that Sam Adams’ $2.5 mil/mile bike plan has just gone up. It turns out the $20 million ‘jacked from the water and sewer budget to spend on Sam’s bike paths (What recession?) that he claimed was readily available because of  “savings” from current big pipe programs just hit some rubble in the pothole.

The price of the project is expect to increase 45 percent because the contractor recently encountered cobbles and boulders at the site.

Ruh, roh. So certainly NO savings AND, as a lovely parting gift, the cost is going UP! But will he cease his plans for bike paths just because we have no money? What do you think?
WW reports (here) the mayor called to clarify yesterday afternoon and, by my lights, made the situation even worse.

The mayor says his plan for helping to fund the bike plan with sewer money will draw from possible contract savings in fiscal years 2010, 2011 and 2012. “I’m quite confident that based on their estimates there will be $15 million in contract savings over the next three years,” Adams says.

Give that man a crystal ball. Oh, and ask him if he can “save” hypothetical money in the hypothetical plans of the future, why he can’t do it in the real world right now. Worse, if he knows the contracts are for too much money from the outset then what kind of steward is he of our tax dollars? Don’t answer that. We already know Sam’s never really been too good with his own money here and here and we know darned well he’s never been good with our money.

Oregon Kid Does Good in American Legion Speech Contest! ($3.5 Mil in Scholarships!)

By Rees Lloyd

The finals of the American Legion  High School Oratorical Scholarship Program – “A Constitutional Speech Contest,” in which thousands of students have competed across the country, concluded on Sunday, April 11, with a live broadcast of the competition online from Indianapolis, where the National American Legion is headquartered.
The American Legion’s patriotic educational program results in some $3.5-million in scholarships being given annually to students who compete at  the various levels of competition – from the Legion Posts, to Districts, to Areas, to Departments (States) and ultimately the National Finals.
The top three National winners  for 2010 are:  Tori Beth Black of S. Carolina, Elizabeth Blessing of Alabama, and Brooke Conner of Vermont. The received scholarships of $18,000, $16,000, and $14, 000 respectively.
Winners from all 50 states plus three overseas Departments of the Legion, competed. Every competitor received a $1,500 scholarship, plus the scholarship funds received at each step of the competition in their states.
The Oregon Department winner was Dalton Hellman, a senior at Canby High School. He was sponsored by Canby Post 122.
Congratulations to all the kids who competed at every level of the Legion Oratorical Scholarship contest, an outstanding patriotic educational program.
Congratulations, too, to all the wartime veteran members of The American Legion who make this patriotic learning experience available to the nation’s kids, and future leaders.
They are sure not getting it in the ” public schools, in which patriotism is trumped by “progressive” politically correct pap and propaganda;  the Star Spangled Banner by “Barack Hussein Obama, Hmmm, Hmmm, Hmmm;” and the Ten Commandments by Ten Condoms.
More information on the American Legion’s Oratorical Scholarship Program, Boys State, Girls State, and other of the Legion’s Americanism programs for Children and Youth, is available at www. Legion.org.
