Green Energy May Harm More Than It Helps

Leftists always forget that little thing known as the law of unintended consequences. Not only have they worked hard to block these so-called “Green” energy alternatives if they are to be constructed in their backyards, now they are discovering their plans for alternative fuels aren’t all they are cracked up to be.

Read this and then close your eyes, pretend a conservative said it, and then see if you don’t think this whole man made global warming thing isn’t a fraud,

The chairman of the leading climate change watchdog was informed that claims about melting Himalayan glaciers were false before the Copenhagen summit, The Times has learnt.
Rajendra Pachauri was told that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessment that the glaciers would disappear by 2035 was wrong, but he waited two months to correct it. He failed to act despite learning that the claim had been refuted by several leading glaciologists.

GDP data may overstate economy’s health

It’s All Bush’s Fault

While Obama praised how well he is doing with the economy and supporters are fist bumping each other bragging about an alleged 5.7 percent gain for 2009’s fourth quarter, it appears all may not be as it seems.

“But when you look a little more closely at the numbers, it quickly becomes apparent that it’s hardly time to start breaking out the champagne. A big part of the latest GDP gain comes from a statistical adjustment for changes in inventory levels that don’t reflect real growth. Over the past year, businesses cut deeply into those inventories — not wanting to get stuck with unsold goods. Now that they’ve cut them to the bone, the rate of inventory-cutting has slowed. The way the GDP is calculated, that slowdown adds to “growth” — even though it doesn’t reflect increased production or sales. If you back out that inventory adjustment, GDP grew only 2.2 percent.”

“Friday’s report was the preliminary reading on GDP, which will be revised twice before it’s final. Last time around, the number for the third quarter of 2009 started out at 3.5 percent before pared back to 2.2 percent for the final report. That could well happen this time around. Mike Englund at Action Economics thinks today’s number overestimated the drop in imports because the preliminary numbers may have overestimated the drop oil consumption. He says that accounted for a full percentage point of the 5.7 percent gain in the fourth quarter.”

“Even if the preliminary number holds through two rounds of revisions, few economists see that kind of growth as sustainable. A panel of economists surveyed by msnbc.com said they see U.S. GDP moving ahead at 2.7 percent this year.”

M 66 & 67 Fall Out: Better Off Firing Employees, Working Out of House

Hi Victoria

Having just finished my year end books I did some calculations on what I paid in taxes/benefits to have the pleasure of being a small business owner with 2 full time & 2 part time employees.

Here are my stats and I believe they are very similar to most under 10 person businesses

Gross sales  525K

Total personal income to be reported on my 1040  (S-corp status )   $80k

If I were to add the payroll & benefit burden (22,500)  from the business expenses to my income that  would make my income $102,500

Then deduct the payroll burden of 22.5 and the personal taxes I will pay on the 80k reported on my 104 of about 20k in taxes, it puts me at a 40% tax rate

That is absurd. I am better off to close my business and work solo from home.

I am seriously thinking of doing this do the detriment of my employees.

I think we need a certified accounting of small businesses true tax burden like mine and publish that information.  Who can we get to do that?

Ready to spit nails

Bill

M 66 & 67 Fall Out: Oppressives Reveal Real Aim

From the mouth of their Orb, Chuck Sheketoff, here’s the Oppressives’ real plan for Oregon? To turn it into a welfare state. Isn’t that what this sounds like?

Oregon “flies with her own wings,” our state motto reminds us, and this week our state is soaring.
To protect our schools, our health and human services and our public safety system, Oregonians rejected a well-financed corporate campaign of fear and deception and voted to enact modest tax increases on those with the ability to pay. In doing so, we have shown the rest of the country a sound fiscal path to recovery. [Amazing, isn’t it, that $733 million can do all this!]
Even though we’ve taken wing, our ultimate destination — an economy that works for middle-class and low-income Oregonians — remains distant. Much remains to be done, and the Legislature should waste no time when it meets during its special session.

Oregon soars, alright. Soars right into the blades of one of their beloved windmills. I never got a job from a “middle class and low income” person. Never.

M 66 & 67 Fall Out: I Called My Accountant…Uh, Oh…

FROM FACEBOOK

I have already met with my accountant to work on what to do here. I may have to rework contracts with clients just to avoid certain services. The way it looks, I may literally lose money by taking low-margin/ high-volume business. As many of my services are commodity, it is impossible to ‘pass-on’ price increases. Doing so eliminates any See Morechance of winning an RFP… not doing so, losses any potential profit. Never thought I would have to say no to business because of a tax. Less business = Less employees = More on unemployment = Less tax base to support the very government institutions this attempts to fund. AMAZING many just don’t get this.

M 66 & 67 Fall Out: Company Says it Won’t Relocate to Oregon

Better to know now
Thank you, voters of Oregon, for approving your new taxes sooner rather than later.

I was contemplating moving my business enterprises up to your beautiful state. Now it seems the smart thing to do is to keep those jobs in California.
