Obama Lies To The Pope!

From Reuters News, “Obama promised Pope Benedict on Friday that he would do everything possible to reduce the number of abortions in the United States.”

Hmmmm.

1990: wrote approvingly of an Illinois Supreme Court ruling that the unborn cannot sue their mothers for negligence, and he suggested that allowing fetuses to sue would violate the mother’s rights

1997: voted in the Illinois Senate against SB 230, a bill designed to prevent partial-birth abortions.

(NARAL) gives Obama a 100% score on his pro-choice voting record in the Senate for 2005, 2006, and 2007.

Consistently refused to support legislation that would define an infant who survives a late-term induced-labor abortion as a human being with the right to live.

2008: Of his own daughters, “if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.”

It’s not nice to try to lie to the Pope.

Unrelated; There is no truth to the rumor that Barack Obama is firing The Pope and nationalizing The Vatican……… I think.

Rees Lloyd in the Zero on the Cesar Chavez Issue

Read it all here. Or you can go to his original piece written for the Victoria Taft Show blog here.
Here’s the meat of it:

I’m appalled and pained at the exploitation of that good man’s name and life in the renaming of 39th Avenue in Portland. The move’s self-described Latino advocates and members of the City Council have redefined him in death to be what he never was in life. It’s shameful, self-serving exploitation.

The council did this despite the almost universal opposition of the affected residents and businesses, whose good-faith objections were disregarded, as were proffered alternative ways to honor Chavez.

Instead, the council kowtowed to a self-righteous group whose members defined themselves as representing the Latino community and who manifested their bad faith by refusing to meet with representatives of the affected communities at any time in the process and who refused to consider any alternative to their demand.

It’s ironic that Chavez spent his life fighting exploitation, and now, in death, his name and his achievements are co-opted by a group that has made no secret that its intent is to use Chavez to honor itself.

Obama’s Science Czar: Forced Abortions, Forced Sterilization, Planetary Regime to Assume Control of Global Economy

H/T Orbusmax. Here’s where you get the story.
Here’s the nut of the blog post:

• Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;
• The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation’s drinking water or in food;
• Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise;
• People who “contribute to social deterioration” (i.e. undesirables) “can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility” — in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized.
• A transnational “Planetary Regime” should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans’ lives — using an armed international police force.

These ideas … were put forth by John Holdren, whom Barack Obama has recently appointed Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and Co-Chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology — informally known as the United States’ Science Czar.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Abortion to Get Rid of Unwanted Populations

World Net Daily, The New York Times, Alliance Defense Fund all report this exchange:

JUSTICE GINSBURG: Reproductive choice has to be straightened out. There will never be a woman of means without choice anymore. That just seems to me so obvious. The states that had changed their abortion laws before Roe [to make abortion legal] are not going to change back. So we have a policy that affects only poor women, and it can never be otherwise, and I don’t know why this hasn’t been said more often.

Q: Are you talking about the distances women have to travel because in parts of the country, abortion is essentially unavailable, because there are so few doctors and clinics that do the procedure? And also, the lack of Medicaid for abortions for poor women?

JUSTICE GINSBURG: Yes, the ruling about that surprised me. [Harris v. McRae — in 1980 the court upheld the Hyde Amendment, which forbids the use of Medicaid for abortions.] Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion. Which some people felt would risk coercing women into having abortions when they didn’t really want them. But when the court decided McRae, the case came out the other way. And then I realized that my perception of it had been altogether wrong.
