Planned Parenthood's Unabashed Racism

Planned Parenthood of Idaho officials apologized Wednesday for what they called an employee’s “serious mistake” in encouraging a donation aimed at aborting black babies.
Read here.

Here's Family Research Council's take on the scandal:

"Students at UCLA are so infuriated by the investigation that they are petitioning the university to cut all affiliation with Planned Parenthood. What few people realize is that the organization has a history of racism that has been ingrained since Planned parenthood's earlier days, when found Margaret Sanger advocated negative eugenics and spoke to a woman's branch of the KKK (Margaret Sanger, An Autobiography, 1938, p. 336-367)."

Global Cooling Continues

Anecdotal, reported scientific findings from the last few years indicate a global cooling which has wiped out a century of global warming (you know, the one that happened after the mini ice age).
Here's the full story and below is an excerpt:

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.

No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

Here's another story about the coming ice age:

Dr. Kenneth Tapping is worried about the sun. Solar activity comes in regular cycles, but the latest one is refusing to start. Sunspots have all but vanished, and activity is suspiciously quiet. The last time this happened was 400 years ago -- and it signaled a solar event known as a "Maunder Minimum," along with the start of what we now call the "Little Ice Age."

Crickets From the Left: No Reply on Bust of Global Warming Scaremongering

I will give the Zero credit however for running this piece on one day this week.
Our knowledge of the interplay between atmospheric carbon dioxide and global temperature has gone through three stages over the past 20 years. Al Gore correctly points out that early ice-core data gathered from glaciers around the world showed a very strong correlation between carbon dioxide and temperature over 650,000 years. Because carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, most of us assumed that it regulated global temperature.

By 1999, improving ice-core techniques produced a stunning reversal, showing that the global temperature changed many centuries before carbon dioxide changed. This proved that natural climate cycles were causing changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide, probably by affecting how much remained dissolved in the oceans.

Using new ice-core evidence, Caillon, et al. (Science, March 2003), concluded that "CO2 is not the forcing that initially drives the climatic system."

This should have convinced alarmists that their scare was unwarranted. But too many would have been thrown out of work, and too many politicians would have lost a hot-button issue. So they ramped up the alarm, relying on ever-more-contrived theories to explain the ice-core data.

In 2007, their last theoretical bastion crumbled. Climatologists announced that a fundamental signature of greenhouse gases, predicted by all U.N. climate models, is missing. There is no "hot spot" from CO2 -induced warming at tropical latitudes. Satellites and weather balloons show normal temperature profiles. The climate models are fundamentally flawed.

One of the "101 Most Dangerous Professors" Headed for PSU?

That's what we hear. PSU won't confirm. Groups on campus, including the Jewish student groups and the Campus Republicans, have caught wind of one of the biggest American hating, terrorist loving professors around hanging out his shingle at the Middle East Studies Center. Joel Beinin is so notorious that a student run paper used to print a "Beinin Watch" to keep up with his antics in the classroom.
Beinin is also in David Horowitz's book, "The Professors: The 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America."
Below is a letter I drafted to the Trustees and here are their names and addresses.

Dear______,

I am writing to express my concern about the apparent imminent hiring of Professor Joel Beinin to oversee the Portland State University Department of Middle Eastern Studies.
Portland State officials have not returned calls or responded to my inquiries about Beinin’s future with PSU.
While I understand that Professor Beinin’s scholarship is the subject of criticism, it’s his hatred of America, Jews, and apology for known terrorist groups that have perpetrated violence against the United States that gives me cause for concern.
I appreciate intellectual diversity, but I must say it seems that Portland State University has caught its limit of leftist, America hating professors. Can’t there be some intellectual balance applied to the hiring process? Would it be too much to hire professors who actually like this country and not spend classroom time fomenting hatred for it among the students?
I’d appreciate hearing back from you.

Sincerely,

What's Worse: Banning Crucifixes from an Albany School or Using Crucifixes as Gang Symbols?

ALBANY — A pair of Albany teenagers suspended for “gang-related behavior” because they were wearing crucifixes say they were only wearing gifts from their mothers.

Jaime Salazar, 14, and his friend Marco Castro, 16, were suspended from South Albany High School recently after they refused to put away the crucifixes they were wearing around their necks.

Salazar said Principal Chris Equinoa saw his necklace and told him to put it away. “I was like, why?” Salazar said. “He says it’s related to gangs.”

Salazar said he argued and was sent to the office. Instead, he went home. Later, he received a note saying he had been suspended for five days for “defiance and gang-related behavior.”

Castro, a junior, was suspended for three days after refusing to take off a string of milky rosary beads, with a crucifix and a tiny picture of the Virgin Mary, that he was wearing around his neck. His mother gave it to him, he said.

Is it the Same if Hillary Puts on Her Forebears' Attire?

Question: If you're a US Senator and visiting Kenya, the land of your father's people, why do you dress as a Somali elder? If you're a US Senator don't you think about the Somali elders who, working with Al Qaeda, ordered the attack on American Rangers and Seal Team 6 in Mogadishu in 1993?
From Gateway Pundit we find THIS picture of Barrack Hussein Obama circa 2006. The photo is being industriously circulated by the Hillary campaign see Politico piece here.

Barack's funny hat moment posted at the National Examiner on February 4.
Hat Tip Larwyn

The photo was originally posted at Hans-Geeska Afrika Online during Barack Obama's trip home to Kenya in September 2006.
Here is the caption:

U.S. Senator Barack Obama, right, is dressed as a Somali Elder by Sheikh Mahmed Hassan, left, during his visit to Wajir, a rural area in northeastern Kenya, near the borders with Somalia and Ethiopia. The area is at the epicenter of a severe drought that has hit the Horn of Africa region, after erratic and insufficient rains during the April-June season.

Global Warming Show Down: Scientist in Chief Kulongoski Succeeds in Ousting Oregon's Climatologist

George Taylor, formerly the Oregon State Climatologist, has quietly left his job in academia after being scorned, pilloried, and mocked by Oregon's global warming experts, Governor Ted Kulongoski and Bill Bradbury, who, when he's not giving speeches about Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truths" and being a democratic party hack, is Oregon's Secretary of State.
It came down to Taylor, a climate scientist, believing that while global warming has existed, it was not chiefly caused by man.
As you know Taylor was countermanded by Kulo the guv and Bradbury. In fact, the Governor didn't even see fit to name Taylor to his global warming commission.
The State Climatologist and student of global warming --not invited.
It was as if they wanted a preordained outcome to the commission or something.
Naw....
Here's a post back when this whole thing reared its ugly head.
Here's George's bio:

George H. Taylor is the State Climatologist for Oregon, and a faculty member at Oregon State University's College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences. He manages the Oregon Climate Service, the state repository of weather and climate information, and supervises a staff of ten.

Mr. Taylor is past president of the American Association of State Climatologists. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and has received certification as a Certified Consulting Meteorologist by the Society. He also has a California Lifetime Community College Credential. He has published over 200 reports, symposium articles, and journal articles.

Prior to joining Oregon State University in 1989, Mr. Taylor operated his own consulting business in Santa Barbara, California. Previously he was employed as a meteorologist by North American Weather Consultants and Environmental Research and Technology.

Illegal Means Illegal, Willamette Weak

So now people who oppose ILLEGAL immigration are "spittle spewing," racist, "honkies?"
Interesting. We're supposed to be made uncomfortable by the fact that this illegal alien, who is the cover story of this week's edition, is Canadian and, gasp! WHITE!
DISmissed racists! See ya! Go back to your shacks with your squirrel guns! Go back to writing your racist tracts with your #2 Ticonderoga while searching vainly through your stacks of Guns and Ammo for your missing tooth! You've been put in your place because WW has blown the cover off the fact that illegal aliens come in different colors like gasp! WHITE.
Grow up, Willamette Week.
You're late.
How about a story about Mayor Moonbeam and the Rainbow City Council's plans to open a day labor center for ILLEGAL aliens. The city plans to PAY someone to match these ILLEGAL aliens with employers who ILLEGALLY hire them.

On a construction site in North Portland, an illegal immigrant pounds nails and cuts two-by-fours. With each swift motion, he’s breaking the law.

He could be the poster child for anti-illegal immigrant zealots: He’s nonchalant about his status for the most part, unconcerned about not paying U.S. taxes and indifferent to the fact that he’s “stealing” the job of a U.S. citizen.

But he passes through Portland mostly untouched by the spittle spewing from the seal-our-borders-now camp.

Why? Because he’s not Mexican.

He’s an illegal Canadian.

Rest here.

Predateachers: More Today on the Victoria Taft Show 5-8p KPAM 860

Stay tuned today. So far the union won't come on, the Democrats won't come on but we'll continue the coverage. KPAM 860 5-8PM.
Tuesday afternoon the Democrat "leadership" stopped a legislative attempt by the Republicans to put a stop to "passing the trash," dismissing it as political theater." I've never heard Rep Linda Flores so angry.
And so it goes.
The Zero continues to downplay the union aspect of this story. I mean, they're engaging in literary gymnastics to prevent telling that aspect of the story.

"None of the settlement agreements obained by the Oregonian involved teachers threatening legal action against the district."

Oh, come on, TEACHERS DON'T HAVE TO THREATEN A LAWSUIT FOR GOODNESS' SAKE. The districts already KNOW what the UNION WILL DO ON THE TEACHER'S BEHALF!

Prada Frauda

From the LA Times:

These days, the coveted "Made in Italy" label on those Prada bags and Gucci shoes, which can quadruple a price, may not mean what it used to.

Thousands of Tuscan factories that produce the region's fabled leather goods are now operated and staffed by Chinese. Though located in one of Italy's most picturesque and tourist-frequented regions, many of the factories are nothing more than sweatshops with deplorable conditions and virtually indentured workers.

Baddest of Bad Actors is Dead. Joscelyn on Al Qaeda Connections.

The assassination of [Imad]Mugniyah has been widely reported in the press. Most accounts have gotten the details of his early career right. They have noted Mugniyah's role in some of the first Islamist terrorist attacks against the United States, including the bombings of the U.S. including the bombings of the US embassy and U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut in 1983 and a series of hijackings and kidnappings throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. But what virtually all of the coverage in the major media in recent days omits is this: Imad Mugniyah was a vital ally of Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda.

Obama Leads Latest Oregon Presidential Poll

Before the Obama Faint-a-thons (here), before the Obama 'plagiarism,' before the Obama yo mama Cuban flag Che Guevarra incident, there was a Obama the demigod.
These latest Rasmussen poll results show it (here):

Oregon 2008 Presidential Election

Oregon: Obama Leads McCain, McCain Leads Clinton

Sunday, February 17, 2008

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone poll in Oregon shows John McCain leading Hillary Clinton 45% to 42%. However, Barack Obama leads John McCain 49% to 40%. McCain leads Clinton among voters not affiliated with either major political party but Obama leads McCain.

Last August, McCain also led Clinton by three percentage points. Obama was not included in that round of polling.

The current poll finds Clinton leading McCain by four points among men but trailing the Republican by eleven points among women. Obama leads McCain by fourteen percentage points among women and by five among men.

McCain earns the vote from 76% of political conservatives when matched against Clinton. He attracts 69% of conservatives when matched against Obama.

Clinton is viewed favorably by 48% of voters in Oregon, unfavorably by 50%. Those figures are little changed since August.

McCain is now viewed favorably by 56% and unfavorably by 42%. That’s an improvement since August when just 46% had a favorable opinion of the Arizona Senator.

Obama is the most popular of all three candidates at this time—66% favorable, 31% unfavorable.

Teachers Unions and Schools Cover Up for Pedophile Teachers. Where's Catholic Priest-like Outrage?

So, they're doing it FOR THE CHILDREN??? It's all because the schools can't or won't fight the unions. So a pervert teacher gets a pass and a good report from the district when he/she seeks another job.
Aren't teachers, principals etc., REPORTING PARTIES under the law?
But, hey, it's too expensive to bring them up on charges so they're left to offend again.

Good for the Zero for bringing it up here.
There are a lot of public officials who did a lot of tsk tsking when the pedophile priest story was in full flow. Where are those tsk tskers now? Looking the other way. Where are the defenders of the public employees unions when one of their own offends against a child and is given a pass just to get him/her the heck out of their school. Passing the trash...they actually have a name for it!

Then, as NW Republican reports here, Jackson County libraries must negotiate with the SEIU union even though they cost too much money. Jackson County wasn't going to get its Timber Money (read: Spotted Owl Pay off).
Taxpayers, the clients, lose again to the unions. What's the government for again? Oh, yeah, the unions.
I talked to TWO PEOPLE TODAY ALONE who are moving out of metro area proper for just such expensive stuff as these. They also plan to NOT RETIRE in Oregon.

Good Intentions? $200K/House. Freedom? A buck oh five. Look of Shock on Faces of Social Engineers? Priceless.

A University of Washington Econ prof has quantified how much 'good intentions' cost the average home owner in the city of Seattle. The Portland area Planning Class should take note that Professor Theo Eicher (who will be on the Victoria Taft Show on Friday on KPAM 860. Stream here) has put the cost of those 'good intentions' at $200,000.00 per house.

"In a nationwide study, it can be shown that Seattle is one of the most regulated cities and a city whose housing prices are profoundly influenced by regulations," he says.
A key regulation is the state's Growth Management Act, enacted in 1990 in response to widespread public concern that sprawl could destroy the area's unique character. To preserve it, the act promoted restrictions on where housing can be built. The result is artificial density that has driven up home prices by limiting supply, Eicher says.

...Eicher explains that "the statewide growth-management plan gave King County few options but to require that landowners in rural areas that haven't already cleared their land to keep 50 to 65 percent of their property in its 'natural state.' This forced greater density in Seattle."
"The state is intervening to restrict supply. It's not that there's no land at all," Eicher says.

It's clear that there are other ways to provide some planning without driving all the poor people and families out of a certain area:

Cities such as Houston and Atlanta, which have few growth restrictions, have shown that. They've been able to add enough housing to meet demand, so their home prices have risen more moderately than heavily regulated San Francisco and Boston, which have a harder time increasing housing.

From Global Test to Global Tax: Obama GLOBAL TAX on Docket for Thursday. CALL YOUR SENATORS AND SAY 'NO'

The United States is tops in giving to the world's downtrodden. Under this kooky plan proposed by Barrack Obama (he must be so proud; what is this, his FIRST piece of legislation or something?) the United States would be on the hook to spend .7 of GDP on poverty programs around the world. That would result in spending $845 billion MORE than the US already spends over a 13 year period.
Move on dot commies just don't get it: When the government takes over the role of the individual individuals don't feel impelled to act.
That means that this would undoubtedly have the net effect of REDUCING the US contributions to the rest of the world. Why? As I stated above, when the government takes over something people figure it's the government's job so, 'Why should I do it?'
Also, the obvious thing is if Barrack Obama really wants to encourage anti poverty programs he'd be a huge backer of capitalism and encourage business growth in those areas of the world where people could do for themselves with some capital backing.
More here.

Sanctity of Marriage? Gay "Marriage" a Great "Business Opportunity." Read this!

From the Zero:
Two Oregon City women who describe themselves as friends and business partners rather than lovers filed for a civil union today in Clackamas County, saying the arrangement would help protect their business.

"We're just opportunists," joked Leska Emerald Adams as she applied for a civil union with her companion, Lynn Szender, at the Clackamas County clerk's office.

As Adams, 47, and Szender, 51, explain it, they are bound by a "divine friendship" that is reinforced by the live-in caregiving business they own and operate together.

"We're not lesbians," Szender said.

A civil union will help protect their business. The for
