Blasphemy! Victoria Taft, don't you know that the Good Book of Al Gore tells the Faithful that humans cause global warming? Does not the prophet Greenpeace, in the chapter of ELF, tell us that all things are done by the hand of Global Warming and His/Her will governs the cosmos? If it is His/Her will that the belief of the Faithful be tested by the devious snowfall of George W. Bush, who is the Devil, the Father of All Lies, how is it the right of us mere mortals to question it?
Now, praise the Sierra Club and do fifty "Hail Al"s to recieve forgiveness!
I find it humorous when ice and snow are used to make fun of the global warming theories.
Unusual weather patterns (including colder when its cold, and hotter when it is hot) are all in line with the predictions.
Eileen, the PREDICTIONS were for global WARMING, not cooling. NONE of algore's computer-modeled "scientific certainties, based on scientific consensus" came true. Not the hurricanes, not the storms, not the warming, not the melting, not the rise in sea levels. Nothing came true!
In fact, the final analysis of this year's Antarctic ice sheet shows.......THE THICKEST ICE COVER SINCE RECORDS HAVE BEEN KEPT!! Similar numbers have been documented by the Canadian Government, and on Canadian t.v. re the Arctic ice cover. This is not global warming.
In fact, the actual average temperatures for ALL of the last hundred years show NO CHANGE.
(BTW, algore was arrested this morning in Pennsylvania. He cited "despondency" over being shown as a fraud for his global warming hoax, after being apprehended attempting to murder Punxatawney Phil, the groundhog. :)
You cannot simply alter the claims and criteria of global warming, to invent "climate change" upon the ashes of algore's fraud. You must first admit you're wrong, apologize, then sit down and shut up. Your credibility has vanished in the face of scientific FACT.
The phrase "scientific consensus" is itself, an impossibility. Science is based on provable fact, not opinion. There is no such thing as "consensus" when discussing actual science. In addition, algore plagiarized the opening credits to a film without even a hat-tip, let alone a disclaimer, when he showed a COMPUTER GENERATED (that means cartoon) segment on glaciers, which he tried to pass off as real and recent.
Enough of you global warming idiots.

This isn't the same article I was trying to find, that I read over a year ago, but it is similar.
(The one I read may have been in a printed version of National Geographic).

It explains it much better than I can.
There was another article that I can not find now, that talked about how ocean temperature measurements, in the NW Atlantic correlate with one of the models which predicted cooling in the North Atlantic, which warming occurred elsewhere in the world.
This idea of "cooling" created by the effects of Global warming, is not at all new.
Do you know why the coast is warmer in the winter than inland, and colder in the summer?
Do you know why Northern Europe is not nearly as cold as the same L attitude in Canada?
Ocean Currents.
Warming currents in the winter and cooling currents in the summer.
Cool down a warm current, by introducing cold fresh water (as from melting ice) and what effect does that have on the air temperatures?
A more drastic effect could be that some currents stop, or change very significantly enough to cause a very extreme cold in some areas, and extreme heat in others.
Of course it can cool and warm at the same time. That's irrelevant. The relevant thing is that the people who're pushing the anthropogenic global climate change theory seem to maintain that everything is explained by it, even things that common sense dictates don't jive with their pet theory. Victoria was just making fun of their first designation of the phenomenom as "global warming".
