VT Show Listener #5: What Assignment is THIS?

From the English Department halls at the august institution of Linn Benton Community College come these pictures. Question: What do you suppose the assignment was? What are the chances of getting 100% exclusive Bush bashing "art" pieces?

Those are great! Good to see political consciousness amidst the youth.

The question is: is there any diversity of thought on this campus or are these kids just encouraged to be either Bush or GOP hatas because it matches the beliefs of the teachers?

Crallspace: I love your handle.

Mind-numbed, moonbat robots; that's what Quack-ademia is helping produce. They just keep bankrupting the value of a Bachelor's Degree, year-after-year.

Hmm, I'd say more Benton than Linn there.... Lane CC is probably wondering why they didn't think of it first.

There's not much positive to be said about a class that elicits the exact same response from all the students. It looks like they were just regurgitating what the teacher wanted to get a good grade. Nothing wrong with getting a good grade, but I'd question whether any real thinking was going on.

Here's something that the DNC bigwigs don't want us rank-and-file dems to know about:

"On Tuesday, April 15 a trio of Democratic Party leaders held a private teleconference
with former Vice President Al Gore, who was the party's Presidential candidate in 2000. DNC Chairman Howard Dean, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi-CA and Senator Jay Rockefeller-WV spoke with Al Gore and set up the preliminary framework for what is being called the "Denver Plan". The "Denver Plan" involves Al Gore stepping into the lead role of the 2008 Democratic presidential ticket at the 2008 Democratic National Convention meeting August 25-28, with the winner of the Democratic Primary's popular vote serving as vice president candidate (either Illinois Senator Obama or New York Senator Clinton). The candidate who loses the primary popular vote (whether they win the delegate vote or not) will then be promised a high position in Gore's cabinet (possibly the Secretary of State role, although that issue is not settled yet).

Howard Dean is quoted as saying that "This rivalry is going to hurt us down ticket if
it's not wrapped up by June. We're almost certain to lose the presidental election in November, and perhaps two seats in the Senate we might otherwise pick up if it doesn't end now." The party will be announcing the arrangement following the last of the primaries on June 3 in order to avoid upsetting potential voters in the final states.

Neither Senator Obama nor Senator Clinton's camps have responded to the rumors about the "Denver Plan", but it is believed that neither candidate is very enthusiastic about the possibility.”

Please contact Speaker Pelosi, Governor Dean and the Democratic National Committee and insist that our voices be heard, not the backroom politics that deserve to be left in the past.

Do we know that what is shown here, is 100% of the items turned in (or even displayed) based on the assignment?

Are we supposed to assume that?

Keith Moore said...

No, Eileen, we're not. But it seems certain that this constitutes a typical sampling of what was presented; otherwise, it would have no meaning. Moreoever, as it fits the general tenor of what can be found in modern academia, it's believable.

Eileen said...

Keith, why do you assume it represents a typical sample and that one would not present some subset of information for the sake of making the point they wish to make?
As if that doesn't happen on this blog.

Meaning?
Meaning is often misrepresented for the sake of influencing what others believe, or just trying to add more data to what one already believes.

I am sure the class was much larger than the number of pieces shown here.

I would have thought this was a sixth-grade art project had not the article revealed the supposed [biological] age of the kids...and I do mean KIDS...involved in their creation.

I would have thought this was a sixth-grade art class project had not the article revealed the [biological] age of the kids...and I do mean KIDS...involved in their creation. I would wager a considerable sum that most of these children...and I do mean CHILDREN...are being subsidized by public money. What a waste of resources; what a waste of a mind.

Does anyone know what kind of class this assignment came from?

I would assume an art class (still wondering why it's in the halls of the English Dept.), but these days I wouldn't be surprised if it came from a math or physics class.

Just another example of college students acting out in an immature way without all of the facts about politics. It's funny how I am a college student but don't trust the media with a whole heart but most others do. As a political science major, I believe that these "works of art" are just a product of media (esp. MTV) brainwashing.

willy39 said...

This does not show artistic ability on the part of the students. It just proves that they have been brainwashed and indocrinated by a bunch of neo-jihadist/neo-communist idiot professors. The taxpayers dollars at work.

Maybe, just maybe, the kids (as many of you like to call them) agree with 69% of Americans in thinking GWB is the worst president ever.

Just another reason to stop Public Fund's from going to Linn Benton C.C. and all Liberal Public Indoctrination Centers across the USA.

A good antidote to this crappy "art" would be the viewing of the Ben Stein film that opened last weekend --"Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed." Would love to see this film played at Linn-Benton and other Orygone campuses.

In a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken Friday through Sunday, 28% of Americans approve of the job Bush is doing; 69% disapprove. The approval rating matches the low point of his presidency, and the disapproval sets a new high for any president since Franklin Roosevelt.

The previous record of 67% was reached by Harry Truman in January 1952, when the United States was enmeshed in the Korean War.

Keith Moore said...

Just as I am sure it is not. We each seem to have different motives... your motive is to bolster your belief that the pictures are of little significance and my motive is to bolster my belief that the pictures prove something that is already widely known.

Keith Moore said...

The previous low record was set by one James Earl Carter during his frank cluelessness about the economy and foreign policy. Although it's interesting that the last record lows are both Democrats.

Eileen said...

Right on Keith, I completely agree with that statement.

I wonder if the exhibit is still there, maybe I can go by and see it myself, and take my own pictures.

iago said...

Just so you admit Kmoo that Bush is the lowest of the lows.

Keith Moore said...

More than likely you can although I don't want to be nearby when you find out that Victoria nailed it.

I wondered who you were, iago... now I remember you. You're the guy who doesn't know how to write what you're reading on a computer screen.

kloin said...

It appears that the Linn-Benton students have come to their own conclusions regarding Bush. Do not despair kmoo. There is still plenty of time for Bush to end his presidency in glory. What with his masterful handling of the mideast situation and the economy, the 28% is bound to grow. There is more than enough time to find the WMDs and bring bin Laden to justice. On January 20, 2009 there will be a salute to our departing leader, the likes of which have never before been seen.

Keith Moore said...

Just so ya know, I don't regard someone too intellectually deficient to spell my name as worthy of a thoughtful response. Sorry.

camryn said...

Lighten up Kmoo. This is 2008 and we live in the world of computer shorthand. It is a little disingenous to object to the acronym when you use it on other blogs.

Keith Moore said...

I don't use "Kmoo" on other blogs. I either use the name "Delphshadow" or "Keith Moore." I don't shorten names because I have no way of knowing how someone would prefer it to be shortened. I have no intention of "lightening up" if someone can't take the time to address me by the name I use.
