They put a call out for pieces of art at the Linn Benton Community College and, glory be, you'll never guess: all of the pieces were Bush Bashing! Surprise! Now here's a further surprise: most of those art pieces were BROUGHT IN BY THE SCHOOL FOR THE SHOW. It's part of a traveling art show that, on some level, integrates student work. Imagine our shock and surprise! Now here's another surprise: Most of the pieces have been taken down.

The Rest of the Story: "Student" Bush Bashing Art Show Not "Students" at ALL...

Did someone buy all that wonderful art work ? or did someone complain?
Someone probably complained.
It was a little over the edge, but sometimes over the edge stuff makes a good basis for a discussion.
Apologies to the students are in order.
Victoria: Does the Albany Democrat Herald or eileens favorite paper the Corvallis Gazette Times know about this story???
Just Wondering
Thats a terrible thing to say about monkeys.
Any doubts that if someone supplied the same "art work" with Barack Obama's face on a monkey's body, the cries of racism would be defeaning?
And any doubts that those on the right would be defending it?
Lew,
Some of that has to do more with perceived intent, based on history; than a double standard.
When a white person is called a monkey, it is not normally interpreted to mean their whole race is stupid (or less evolved).
But because Negro people have been called monkeys, as a race, calling some individual Negro a monkey is often interpreted as racial.
However, if some other animal were used in the analogy, and Obama's face applied, it would not as likely be considered racial.
I think if someone wants to compare Obama to an animal (to indicate a lack of intelligence if such is their motive) there are plenty of other animals to use, which do not have the history behind them, to skew the interpretation.
klatu,
You pretend to know more about me than you really know.
It's more than obvious by the comments by Eileen, Jonny, et. al., prove yet again that the collective stupidity of the liberal, whiny, knee-jerk, bleeding-heart, Anti-America/Anti-American, Democrat Party is surpassed ONLY by their mind numbing intellectual dishonesty, not to mention that without a modicum of doubt that they also prove that the Jackass is the PERFECT mascot for said Democrat Party.
Eileen I was fighting Socialists in Corvallis Long before you came to town and started working at HP.Pretty much all Socialists there now subscribe to the communist Gazette Times. Republicans hate it. Doesn't surprise me that the GT wouldn't print this story about Linn Benton C.C. You've admitted your partial to the Socialist Movement.
PS: Maybe I'll get in touch with State Sen. Frank Morse about this ART SHOW. HMMMM
PPS: Mykl -- Your post is something that i've said many times, only I would have added more names to your list. WELCOME TO THE WAR!
Those who made the assumption that an entire class came up with Bush Bashing art, were incorrect.
Klatu,
First of all, you have a very narrow biased view of both Corvallis and HP.
But I do suspect you live nearby, and perhaps you would like to live in Corvallis, but can not afford to, creating some animosity toward those of us who do.
Maybe you even work in Corvallis.
Maybe we can have lunch sometime, and discuss politics.
(I will even buy lunch).
But we would need to do it within the next few months.
I just learned (yesterday) that I have to move to Texas if I want to keep my job anyway.
No eileen living in Corvallis since 1954 I know exactly the Transformation of Corvallis from a Thriving Business Oriented Moderate Republican Community where even Moderate Republicans could get hired at OSU and Corvallis High School "like my late Father" to the Green Socialist Anti-Business Community that it is today (But there's lots of used Book Stores). No Corvallis is a terrible town to "work" in. Saying that I do have family ties there. And yes I wouldn't mind moving back some time if the cost of living there could drop a bit. But no I don't work in Corvallis and I do live about 16 miles away from downtown Corvallis. Close enough for me.
Eileen did you ever know KEN Miller. He was a tech at HP for many years and took the Buyout in 2004 I think it was. He moved to Texas. He was a good friend of mine through the Benton County Republicans. Eileen like I've said before theres many offshoots of HP in Corvallis. Check them out on Industrial Way in SW Corvallis.
Get your Resume out.
PS: If you do move to Texas
Here's something from Rush Limbaugh
"It Doesn't Matter where here is" he was talking about Radio, But with the World Wide Web its like being there. Victoria's site will always be here,my site will be here, Lew Waters site will be there, Hell even IKNOWHOWTOSPELL has a Blog
and I'm sure Anti Republican _ _ _ will continue at OSU and Linn Benton C.C.
Klatu,
Are you actually trying to be nice to me, and attempting to give me a positive outlook.
Thanks.
1. Art is supposed to provoke. And it has, in this case.
2. Mykl: One must assume by your comment that you find being considered an elephant flattering.
3. The majority of Americans are sick of Bush--Including most Republicans.
4. He really does look like a monkey. Butt... one could argue that his leadership is weak; that he is more or less a trained monkey
that does what his handlers tell him. See: "Dick Cheney"
"Any doubts that if someone supplied the same "art work" with Barack Obama's face on a monkey's body, the cries of racism would be defeaning?"
The fact that you thought of it Lew is proof enough how you feel about Barack Obama, and probably Blacks in general. Sad really.
Eileen: I suppose
jonny: I don't like President Bush?
Speak for your self. Hardly he's a GOOD President
-. Lew Waters doesn't have a Racist Bone in his body Buckoo
I don't think Lew is Racist at all.
And I have many conversations with him.
But his statement is correct.
But I think that looking at the wider context and the reason his statement is probably correct, is worth doing.
(Personally, I think comparisons of George Bush to Curious George are rather humorous. Wasn't there a book published, "Curious George Goes to Washington?")
