Several American officials leaving a meeting in New Orleans between the Bush administartion and Mexican Deleagtes, were stunned to discover their Blackberries missing from a table where they were required to leave them. Secret Service agents viewing video taken of the table during the meeting revealed the lead press advance person for the Mexican Delegation, Rafael Quintero Curiel, pocketing the devices.
Agents caught up with Curiel at the airport and he initially denied taking the seven devices. When confronted with a DVD showing him absconding with them, he admitted to taking them "accidentally." He was forced to return them.
Upon his arrival back in Mexico, he was asked to tender his resignation, according to a Mexican Embassy spokesman.
"Mr. Quintero will be responsible for explaining his actions to the American authorities conducting an investigation. The Mexican Government deeply regrets this incident," the spokesman said.

What the heck? Spying?
Given the world's general uneasiness about that sort of thing, I kinda can't believe officials would just leave something that might have sensitive information in it (such as an just one *individual* Blackberry, nevermind more than one) unattended.
It would have made sense to leave someone to watch over them, just to be safe, no?
That's not to excuse the Mexican official, either. Whatever kind of deep trouble he's in (or should be in), he's earned it.
That was my first thought, Spying.
Spying is only wrong if it is against us.
We pay people to spy on others, and condemn those who spy on us.
I have never quite understood this paradox.
But the theft was a definite sign of stupidity. As if they would leave blackberries there, with no sort of security system in place.
Hell there'a over 3 thousand chinese right know spying and trying to steal our Tech Secrets and other information. Ya think ilegal Mexicans might try the same. Of course
