Remember that WiFi system for Portland, Oregon? Uh, yeah, gone.
In Portland, Oregon, another city-wide Wi-Fi network bites the dust
In the latest of a lengthening string of failures in city-wide wireless projects across the US, MetroFi of Mountain View, CA has reportedly stopped work on a project in Portland, Oregon.
After installing 590 functional wireless access points (APs) in Portland, MetroFi has asked the city to provide $9 million in public funds to finish the job with an additional 2,000-or-so APs.

Another one bites the dust , we just need more of portlands bright ideas to join it. Like light rail!
Well I ride the Light Rail to go to work.. it suits my needs.. So I am not against it.. but I am against building more light rail to just build light rail routes, like the idea of stretching it to Vancouver accross a new bridge for I-5.
But the wireless internet AP's that are now going to sit there and rust.. and when it did work.. it was not reliable..when I first moved here.. I used it once.. and could ONLY get on it by driving deep onto 82nd Avenue. Good bye and good riddance I say.
I guess I will have to continue to hang out at the Airport, or Starbucks.
