The lovely Alicia Keys says so.
In an interview with of Blender magazine, Alicia Keys says, "'Gangsta rap' was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. 'Gangsta rap' didn't exist." Asked a ploy by who, she replied incredulously, "The Government."

Is it any wonder the races are no closer to coming together in fulfilling Martin Luther King's dream?
UPDATE: Alicia Keys says comments to magazine were misrepresented.
"My comments about `gangsta rap' were in no way trying to suggest that the government is responsible for creating this genre of rap music. The point that I was trying to make was that the term was oversloganized by some of the media causing reactions that were not always positive."

Why doesn't this idiot just say the WHOLE sentence?..."the (white man's) government.
The poison being spread by the racist, poverty and victimhood pimps in the so-called black community is a disgrace. Why don't these anti-American ingrates just go somewhere more "homey" for them? Oh, yeah, then who'd make excuses for them anymore, or provide the welfare handouts?
The sick dependency these folks have cultivated amongst each other requires that they remain "oppressed," while begging for more money and sympathy from their "oppressors"! Even the rich among them act like slaves, in order to retain their "creds".
To those who pursue their own continued slavery, while demanding respect, I say quit digging, throw down the shovel, stand up like men and women, and join the human race. Your efforts will make you welcome in society, and you will find happiness and fulfillment in your new found SELF-respect.
If you choose to remain as you are, then boo-flippin'-hoo.
Also important, Bear, is that Alicia also has a White Mother who raised her alone after her Jamaican father left them.
She rejects the culture that got her where she is and instead chooses one that abandoned her while still very small.
So, another rich person of mixed ancestry choosing to blame half of their heritage for their lack of self-respect. Sad. I'm again reminded of the quote from the "Great One" Mark Levin, "Some of us are wise, and some of us are otherwise."
And I bet she went to a madrassa. Better check out her minister too. By the way who is Alicia Keyers, and why is what she says important?
Just another celebrity DUNCE, iago. The difference between you and celebrity DUNCES like harry belafonte, naomi watts, oprah, whoopie goldberg, the obamster, danny glover, and the rest of the celebrity DUNCES? Your not a celebrity.
BTW, do your own homework.
Rap is _ _ _ _. Always was, and always will be. Yea Alicia Keys another _ _ _ _ _ _ _ up Liberal Celebrity. A Conspiracy? Oh Please
PS: Now where's that 9/11 Conspiracy DVD of Mine.
Wonder if Alicia Keys is on that!
Iago,
You have to read between the lines. What bear really meant was that if in the 2008 election all you have is a warmonger, adulter, wife abuser, and someone who does not know the difference between Sunni and Shiite, then you go with the race card. You are going to hear about many more outrageous comments by lesser known blacks and especially persons of mixed race before this is over. And the next time a Republican says I am not really racist.......just smile, and wink perhaps.
Bear: And the next time a Democrat says I am not really a Socialist.......just smile, and wink perhaps.
Does she go to the most Wrong Reverend Wright's church or something?
From reading the interview in Blender Magazine, she doesn't say what Church she may have attended, but does bring out how she has delved into autobiographies of the founders of the Black Panthers.
It would seem both hold a hatred for America and can't see where past barriers were brought down.
I, being a white man from Oklahoma, can only imagine that you would have to be black or be able to be mistaken for black to begin to understand how "America" or the American government treats its black people. America's government has a very dark history in regard to its black citizens. Slavery may have been abolished roughly 250 years ago, but the Tuskegee Experiment was only 30 years ago. I could not imagine what the relationship must be like between blacks & the American government.
