What SoWa looks like now. Money pit. Tribune picture.
We've got the soundbite of Sam Adams saying so recently but I read this morning in the Portland Tribune that development charges will have to go up by as much as six times and the "overlay" or "halo" (sounds so angelic, doesn't it? Portland planners are on the side of angels!) may be expanded to stick everyone with the bill. Jim Redden of the Trib has the story here.
This is what SoWa was supposed to look like...till the money ran out.

It looks like another of Sam Adams' schemes is well on its way into the tank. If he keeps this up his record as a Conncil member will be nearly as bad as Erik Stens.
at least he did not say that the tram has rights and he needs to control its destiny !
I'll give you that one, tnr.
Let's see, now...Trimet tries social engineering to force more folks onto MAX and the buses. What we get is a crime magnet, failed development and a transit system that serves less than 2% of its constituents. And please, no public votes required.
Sten tries social engineering to create "habitat" for the homeless at dignity village, while ignoring every applicable ordinance the rest of us are forced to obey.
Mayor Potty empowers the bicycle scum in order to force us out of our cars.
While essential infrastructure continues to be neglected in favor of tax giveaways and special deals, we watch as the socialist/utopian pipedreams of the self-proclaimed "smart people" at the city and county collapse under their own dead weight.
While the planners become further entrenched as a "class," and law, unto themselves, hundreds of millions of dollars continue to be wasted, families continue to flee the socialist madness of portland and multnomah county (if not Oregon itself), crime is honored in song, our public schools and feel-good justice system continue to vomit a large percentage of criminals-in-training into the streets, Wapato remains an empty (and expensive) monument to failed leadership, and the incompetents who sow social failure are still coming up with their next "plan."
