Radical Gays Affirm: Church Has No Role in This American Life

Somewhere there's a tolerant middle. Until then the Intolerant "Tolerance" Crowd Radicals hold the largest megaphone in Oregon's continuing shouting match over same sex marriage. Their voice drowned out moderation in this latest battle in the culture wars when they sent emails to OPB (government radio) complaining of the station's choice to host a presentation by popular host of 'This American Life', Ira Glass, at a 1500 seat venue--which just happened to be a church.

New Hope Church, whose large edifice sits regally off I 205, is also home to Pastor Ray Cotton who supported the 2004 initiative calling for marriage to be between a man and a woman. Scandal!
Voters in Oregon overwhelmingly voted to add language to Oregon's constitution holding that marriage was between a man and a woman. It passed with 57% of the vote. The good Pastor was, uh, preaching to the choir.

OPB received two emails of complaint about Glass's appearance in the church. Then, as the Zero story points out here, OPB'ers started checking out blogs where commenters were outraged about it. They were outraged that Glass would hold his talk in New Hope's large worship center where Cotton preached on traditional values. Scandal! One blogger started stirring up opposition to the venue and voila! No more church in 'This American Life.'

Apparently OPB'ers didn't bother to check out the Christian blog sites to determine reaction to the show in the church. Christians apparently don't count to the OPB'ers. For the record, there was no Christian opposition to Glass's appearance.

The radical gays now have scuttled the appearance of a talented performer at the church AND threaten to 'out' names of people who sign a petition to revisit the gay marriage issue (see previous posts here and here), which the legislature overturned in the last session in obvious contradiction to the will of the voters.

Even if you're a gay activist, you have to acknowledge the intolerance of your friends, the tolerance of the church to host this show, the scandalous undermining of the initiative process, and the cowardly fear shown by OPB that gays would be upset with them.

If He Were a Democrat Would Larry Craig Have to Go?

e Sacramento Bee sacbee logo

Idaho Senator Larry Craig says 'I am not gay'

BOISE, Idaho -- Under fire from leaders of his own party, Idaho Sen. Larry Craig on Tuesday said the only thing he had done wrong was to plead guilty after a complaint of lewd conduct in a men's room. He declared, "I am not gay. I never have been gay."

See the full story.

Two Years Later: Hurricane Katrina

What's changed?
Ray (School Bus) Nagin was re elected mayor and is considering a run
for Governor! Governor Kathleen (National Guard) BLANK-O is leaving
office in disgrace after voters decided she shouldn't run again.
Insurance companies have replaced "Brownie" as the left's favorite
whipping boy. Those who never had flood insurance now insist the
insurance companies give them recompense. New Orleans is still missing
half its population because those who could be gone are staying gone.
Crime is still rampant in New Orleans and the Feds are making sure the
levee boards don't skim money off the top before the levees are fixed.
Read the weather bulletin, friends.
Who's fault was it for failing to get out of town? For those who couldn't
get out of town who should have gotten them out? And remember,
Hurricane Katrina also hit Mississippi among other places, but I still
don't hear Haley Barbour whining. He's just getting the job done---because
that's what he's supposed to do.
Below is the speech I rewrote for President Bush. It's a speech I sure wish he'd
deliver at some point.

My fellow Americans…
I come to you from the French Quarter in
the historic city of New Orleans to give you an accounting of the
trouble that has befallen this city and the wonderful people who call
it home.
I’m here tonight…standing in the sewage strewn streets of the French Quarter
because your government has let you down.

Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast section of the United States August 29 and
she hit with a vengeance. Biloxi, Gulfport, New Orleans, have piles of
sticks where-there-once-were homes…and it’s partially because your
government let you down.
First…for my part…I apologize once again for any failing of the
United States Federal Government in its
response to hurricane Katrina.
Brownie…my friend who I put in charge of FEMA…after he served as that
agency’s general counsel
and--before that—as a horse show overseer…is gone.
I fired his butt
because that was the most visible way I could demonstrate
to you that I
meant business.
I COULD tell you he did a bad job…but I’d be lying. He did a good job…and that
brings me to my next failing.

While Alabama and Mississippi were hard hit …they had something the people
Louisiana didn’t. Leadership.

You see…I failed the people of Louisiana because I failed to recognize
early-on that the good people of Louisiana had unknowingly hired morons
to lead them.
When I went to business school they encouraged the big shots to delegate
and I do that a lot. But then I’ve always
surrounded myself with competent people…
What I DIDN’T count on was incompetent people being put in charge.
That’s where I screwed up.
From the corruption in the police department…when cops were running a
way…or…
looting, or grieving; to the levee boards which spent the money they
WERE to have used to buttress the levees…on ---among other things—a two
million dollar light up fountain…to the abject inert response by the
mayor…who threw up his hands and said…those buses aren’t good enough
and --WHERE’S the government? forgetting HE was the government…to the
Governor weeping…gnashing her teeth…and wringing her hands, and
incapable of making a decision…such that even good ol’ Brownie
eventually had to call me and tell me it was time for the FEDS TO TAKE OVER.
We didn’t take over in Mississippi. We didn’t have to take over in Alabama.
Just Louisiana.
I’ve been accused of not CARING about my African American brothers and
sisters, for being too aloof, too distant…away on vacation. But if
Texas was so far away to deal with this, how come my home state is
hosting the majority of the evacuees?
Still --I’m here and I’m not going anywhere.
Now here’s what we’re going to do:
New Orleans is not just Louisiana’s city…it’s everyone’s city and everyone’s
going to help spit-shine it.

Starting Monday…the hardest hit portions of New Orleans will be designated
federal enterprise zones. We’ll cut the red tape…tell you what
structural things you have to do to your buildings in the NEW New
Orleans…but I’m going to do the best thing your government can do: get
the heck out of the way and let the free market build a more secure New
Orleans. The free market didn’t do such a bad job the first time.
Now …we’ve got some people living in some areas of New Orleans that
are---at best---crazy. We’re going to have to give some of that land
back to mother nature…build the levees higher…prepare for the next
hurricane.
And here’s where you come in.
When the weather report for New Orleans says…that quote ‘a most powerful
hurricane with
unprecedented strength…rivaling the intensity of hurricane Camille of
1969.” And when the weather report for new Orleans says…. quote here
again, “most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks, perhaps
longer…and at least one half of well constructed homes will have roof
and wall failure.” Here’s what I want you to do…
Call the mayor…and say…I want to pull a Jabbar Gibson…I will be willing to drive
one of those buses and take many people with me to safety.
If he says again…that those buses aren’t good enough for you…and that the
unionized bus drivers won’t be there to take you…tell him you need the
keys and you need to go now.
Now…here’s something else you need to know…the government can only do so much.
You’re going to have to take care of yourselves. All you have to do to have
PROOF POSITIVE that the “entitlement society” doesn’t work is look at the response
of your mayor and governor.

They had no clue. They thought the government would deliver them…they forgot
they WERE the government.

Now…here’s what else you’ve got to do.
You’ve got to find or build yourself a new home. FEMA is working on your
insurance stuff. You’ll get a home voucher. You know best how to spend
the money.
If you want to live in the big easy…or go someplace else…
don’t you think YOU’RE the best one to decide it?

Now some of the so-called black leaders say you should be given a lump sum
payment like the victims of 9-11. I think that’s a great idea.
We’ll provide some oversight…but I’ll sign a bill doing that…right after
those same…so called leaders support your right to dictate where part
of your social security benefits should be invested.
Those same men also say the response to hurricane Katrina was because I don’t care
for black people…or because I planted a “crater” in one of the levees
in a diabolical plot to purposely flood black neighborhoods to make way
for whitey.
If you believe that-- then you deserve these people as your leaders.
To the rest of you…we’ve got some work to do.
Members of Congress, Chris Rock, and Michael Moore all have said that we’re
spending too much money in Iraq saving those people and that the American
people should sacrifice more for the war effort.
Securing
a democratic government in the middle of Islamofacist regimes…seems
like a good deal to me…so we’ll just ignore that idea. But I like the
idea of shared sacrifice.
So…to that end …I am taking back the highway and appropriations bills…
and spending that money all on rebuilding the gulf region.

That about does it.
No wait: One more thing.
When someone tells you to equip yourself with an emergency kit to last you
and your family for three days? Believe it.

Thank you…God speed…and God Bless America.

Danish Cartoons American Style...

Shhhh.... Don't call them Islmofascists, the terrorists might get mad.
Michelle Malkin reports the Berke Breathed cartoon shown here has been censored because newspapers are afraid to tick off terrorists.

US to Pay for Defense of Alleged Saudi Bagman

Pete Seda, the man who oversaw the building of the Al Haramain "charity" which the feds allege used Saudi money to funnel money to Islamofascist chechen terrorists, has secured an Oregon federal public defender to mount his defense.
If you're working for the Saudis and have been on the lam for years, isn't it a reasonable assumption that SOMEONE has been paying for all of his trips to far flung places around the islamic world? Food? Visas? Clothing? Someone like maybe the Saudis?
Why do taxpayers now need to fund this guy's defense?
Apparently Larry Matasar's (Kip Kinkel, Derrick Foxworth among other notable Matasar defendants) name was simply the next one to come up in the lottery of public defenders for the Al Haramain gig. Wow. That's like hitting powerball. What are the chances???
The Portland office of the federal public defender's office has made a cottage industry out of defending alleged terrorists. It's head, Steven Wax, was the attorney for the wrongly accused Brandon Mayfield. The Portland office also has mounted the defense of seven Guantanamo Bay detainees--the most defendants of any federal public defender's office in the entire country. Gosh you'd think there would be bigger offices somewhere else in the country to mount these costly and time consuming cases, but Portland's office wanted to beset taxpayers with the costs of the Gitmo detainees so took the most defendants.
Calls to get comments from the federal public defenders office and the Oregon bar association went unanswered.

Gay Fringe Threatens Oregon Voters Who Sign Petitions *Update

If you don't believe it just take a look at what same sex marriage fringies admit to being up to with so called 'outing' names of those who sign the marriage petitions.
The new web page of the so called "know they neighbor" effort encourages folks to
"TURN THE TABLES" and to "DECLINE TO SIGN."
Do you suppose the homosexual community would support efforts to list names of people who frequent gay clubs, bath houses, or who suffer from HIV?
The petition to which these kooks refer can be found here at www.letoregonvote.org.
The left has been trying to stifle the initiative process for the past few years. Unwritten rules have been invoked to subvert the process by Bill Bradbury and signature rules have been approved with the result being that it is more difficult than ever before to get an initiative on the ballot.
Now this group's aim is to use blackmail, if you will, to discourage people from signing a petition to call for another vote on these two issues that Oregonians have already voted on and decided (but which the legislature overturned). This means this subset of the homosexual rights clan (klan?) now have lowered themselves to threatening people who disagree with them. Sounds like the left is growing ever more comfortable with the totalitarian ways of their heroes Marx, Lenin, and Stalin.

What is this "Art" Outside of Portland Mayor Tom Potter's Office?

I sure hope taxpayers didn't shell out for this.
Big "ups" to the Mercury for this photo.

Clinton Lied, People Died

A new report on the nation's security before 9/11 found plenty we already knew: the NSA and the CIA and main justice were busy fighting over turf instead of tracking bin Laden who'd declared war on the US in 1998 and had been responsible for attacks nearly every year of the Clinton presidency. Now, in a Newsweek story, we also discover that Clinton never ordered bin Laden killed.

"The report also seemed to raise new questions about former President Clinton’s angry claim to Fox News anchor Chris Wallace last year that he had authorized the CIA to “kill” Osama bin Laden—a directive that the report suggested was more ambiguous and limited than Clinton asserted.
...Clinton ...signed [a memo] that authorized the CIA to use lethal force to capture, not kill, bin Laden. But the inspector general’s report made it clear that the agency never viewed the order as a license to “kill” bin Laden—one reason it never mounted more effective operations against him. “The restrictions in the authorities given the CIA with respect to bin Laden, while arguably, although ambiguously, relaxed for a period of time in late 1998 and early 1999, limited the range of permissible operations,” the report stated. (Scheuer agreed with the inspector general’s findings on this issue, but said if anything the report was overly diplomatic. “There was never any ambiguity,” he said. “None of those authorities ever allowed us to kill anyone. At least that’s what the CIA lawyers told us.” A spokesman for the former president had no immediate comment.)" Newsweek story here.

Tolerance Crowd Run Off the Rails *With Update

Busy as a big dog, but had to post these before I get on the air at 5pm.
1. The Tolerance Crowd at the Gay Rights Lobbying Establishment have announced their intentions of displaying the names and personal information of all Oregonians who have signed petitions to revoke gay "marriage" in Oregon.
The tolerance crowd apparently doesn't like it when you don't tolerate their proclivities (and apparently their politics) and will immediately 'go to guns' by "outing" the family friendly folks who signed petitions. They'll do it here (according to the Mercury here). I've got emails into the folks who run the site and will let you know if I hear back. I've asked the organizers to come on the show.
Here's what I got back from the "news" service that "reported" the story:
Thank you for your email.
You can get more info from Basic Rights Oregon, and KnowThyNeighbor.org.

2.
The other 'off the rails' issue is the Bike Tolerance Crowd. Some of their number are urging their members to take back the streets from cars. How long do you suppose before we'll have bike bombers taking out cars, SUV's, and trucks on Portland streets?
One poster on the Bike Portland website says:

I’m not sure if it’s a direct response to Friday’s incident, but the paint looked fresh and I don’t recall seeing it before then.
It has sparked some interesting discussion on the Shift Email List.

Be listening Monday afternoon from 5-8pm when we go to McMinnville, watch the trial and then later interview the McMinnville Spankers and other players in the trial.
We're broadcasting LIVE (not dead) from 3rd Street Pizza! THE Pizza and theater in McMinnville!

Punxatawny Arellano Pokes Head Out Gets Busted

St. Elvira. This story will be used as a touchstone for overwrought stories about illegal aliens and how the United State should allow their unfettered access 'cuz we're just nice, rich people, but the lady came here, dropped an anchor baby, and expects the world to treat her like St. Mary.
Here's the nugget of the story from the Chicago Tribune:

Elvira Arellano was arrested about 4:15 p.m. Chicago time by law enforcement officials after leaving Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in downtown Los Angeles, said Emma Lozano, an adviser who was there during the arrest.

After talking to news media inside the church, Arellano and her supporters got into their van to head north to San Jose, where she was scheduled to speak at another church, Lozano said. Moments after they got in the van, an unmarked vehicle stopped them.
The driver of Arellano's van, Roberto Lopez, poked his head out of the van because he wanted to see why they were being blocked. Several other unmarked vehicles surrounded their van.
Agents came out of all the cars screaming at the top of their lungs for her to get out, Lozano said. Her 8-year-old son, Saul, started to cry, and Arellano said to everyone in the car, "Calm down. Don't have any fear. They can't hurt me."

Then she turned to the people who were about to arrest her and she said, "You're going to have to give me a minute with my son," Lozano said. She spent time with her son in the car, and then surrendered.
It was over in less than two minutes. She was arrested Sunday on Main Street, near Our Lady Queen of Angels, where Arellano slept Saturday night and where she's held several press conferences Saturday and Sunday.
In a statement released Sunday night, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said that its "officers in Los Angeles today arrested criminal alien and immigration fugitive Elvira Arellano."
"Arellano, who was taken into custody without incident, is being processed for removal to Mexico based upon a deportation order originally issued by a federal immigration judge in 1997," the statment said. "Arresting and removing criminal aliens is one of ICE's top
enforcement priorities and the agency will continue to pursue these cases vigorously."
Callers were "saying that she was traveling to Los Angeles and around the United States, she would provoke [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] and the anti-immigrant groups," he said. "There would be checkpoints everywhere."
Salas questioned why it appeared that mainstream media make Arellano out to be the face of undocumented immigrants, when her actions have exacerbated the animosity toward them.
"She wasn't down to earth," he said, adding that Arellano acted "entitled" to rights "when there's thousands and thousands of people in the same situation."
"She made everything worse," Salas said. "She's not a face of the immigrants. My family without papers, she doesn't represent them."
Activists in the Chicago area who have followed Arellano's story weren't surprised that the law caught up to her.

Zero Illegal Alien Story: Can You People Count? Do You Read Your Own Paper?

Oregonians for Immigration Reform

OFIR Members and Friends:

The top, page 1 headline in the Sunday Oregonian today is:

"Illegal immigrants aren't filling jails; Oregon crime/ Prisoner numbers and types of offenses differ little between legal and illegal residents" by Esmeralda Bermudez.

http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/news/1187412928140140.xml&coll=7 (Headline in online edition differs from headline in print edition.)

The article quotes OFIR Pres. Jim Ludwick, Oregonians for Immigration Reform, pointing out the doubtful validity of figures reported.

An August 11 article, “Jails vary in checks on inmate citizenship,” told of the varying practices in Oregon. http://www.oregonlive.com/oregonian/stories/index.ssf?/base/news/118680452955600.xml&coll=7

According to The Oregonians’ weekly tally of letters to the editors, the most popular topic in letters to The Oregonian between Aug.10-16 was "Immigration reform." 115 letters were received on this subject. This included responses to Mayor Potter's opinion column from last Sunday and "the explosion of letters related to the killing of ...Dani Countryman. ... ... Oregonian reporter Steve Mayes appeared on national television to discuss the case. An e-mail campaign orchestrated by a North Carolina political action committee resulted in 60 messages criticizing the illegal immigrants and Mayes. ..."

The political action committee referred to is Americans for Legal Immigration PAC. The president of ALIPAC, William Gheen, wrote a good letter to the editor on the case, which was published in The Oregonian on Thursday, August 16: Sex wasn't consensual.”

http://www.oregonlive.com/oregonian/stories/index.ssf?/base/editorial/1187220346256170.xml&coll=7 (Scroll down to see the letter)

ALIPAC is a national political action committee that several OFIR members receive email from. Their website is at http://www.alipac.us/

FAIR has issued a very informative brief, “Illegal Aliens and Crime Incidence,” at

http://www.fairus.org/site/PageServer?pagename=research_illegalsandcrime FAIR also has three other papers on the subject: “Examples of serious crimes of illegal aliens,” “Unlicensed to kill: illegal aliens are a hit and run threat,” and “Criminal aliens; the criminal illegal alien problem is growing.”

Illegal Immigration Opponents: Unprincipled Racists According to Potter. Memo to Potter: It's Time to Go.

There are few things quite so insulting as when one tries to marginalize and dismiss your viewpoint in unfair terms. Especially one you might think knows better.
That was the case Sunday last when Tom Potter wrote an op ed in the Zero…comparing the folks who oppose illegal alien amnesty…Potter’s Shrine to Crime Illegal Alien Day Care and Job Center…and his capitulation to anarchists and aliens alike…as racists who were no better than those who manned fire hoses to keep blacks from voting in the 1950’s and 60’s.
The mayor has overstepped the boundaries of sense, taste, and logic—and that’s being generous.
Worse he has underestimated his constituents.
Liberals like to think in terms of fairness. It’s not fair if I make more money than you. It’s not fair if I have a pretty car and you don’t. It’s not fair if I go to a better school than you. That, of course, is what redistributionism is all about. Rob Peter to pay Paul. You know the drill.
And he has forgotten about this as he makes his void proclamations about how racist those are who oppose his liberal view of illegal aliens.
Potter supports his Shrine to Crime to match illegals with employers illegally hiring them. He wants his police bureau to continue its hands off approach to illegals. He does this in defiance of facts about crime stats by illegals and in defiance of our horror and outrage at the murder and rape of 15 year old Dani Countryman allegedly by two men whom we know are illegal aliens.
Liberals know Potter isn’t being fair. They know he’s being unfair to them and unfair to citizens of this city, county, and country.
He has overdrawn his account at the good intentions emotional bank. He’s racking up the overdraft charges in bad will from his homies.
And then he calls them racists.
Potter thinks he’ll bring them over to his side by dragging out the ‘let’s blame it on the talk show hosts’ trope. He thinks he can chum his way back into their good graces by throwing out a little red meat, but he’s wrong.
He states in his op ed that when he spoke up in June about his concern about the Fresh Del Monte plant bust by ICE, “the silence that followed was deafening.” And continued, “Many people whom I respect sat on their hands ---and their principles—and said nothing”
So now you’re unprincipled, too.
Is it wrong and unprincipled to stand for social order? The law? What is fair? What is right?
The silence he refers to was from our open mouthed shock at just how far this guy’s moral compass has strayed from true north.
At the end of his piece he verbally throws up his hands and says he “came to understand we can’t enforce our way out of bad laws and bad public policy.”
He has also missed the biggest point of all: that what his fair-minded constituency hired him to do was to try AND follow the law.
For the rest of us we already knew the man was morally bankrupt when he rode with critical mass and allowed them –as per usual—to ignore traffic laws, laws of social order; when he pulled out of the JTTF in the 7th year of a nine year investigation into two terror groups ELF and ALF and AFTER the Portland Seven Jihadi group was broken up; when he suggests sitting down with zoobombers to negotiate the laws they’ll be allowed to break on their nighttime runs taking over Portland streets; when he allowed the anarchist/?IDA?/PETA?/ALF? folks to terrorize researchers and brokers at their homes and did nothing; and when he allowed a 112 year old company be bullied out of business by Animal “Rights” protesters when the owners wouldn’t sit down and negotiate their surrender to the protesters.
It’s time for this Mayor to go.

*Update Mc Minnville Spankers Still Saddled With Sexual Harassment Charges

I got this email over the weekend. Is what this woman says true, that we can't call these kids "poor" boys if we've never been in the girls' shoes?

Victoria,
All we hear is how these "poor" boys are being treated.
WHAT ABOUT THE POOR GIRLS? Has anyone considered what the harassment has done to them? I have been on that end of teenage boy harassment and it is very intimidating. I hated going to school. Another day of being brutalized. Until you can say you have been in those girls shoes you have no right to feel sorry for those "poor" boys.
We also learn from Mark Lawrence (Cory's attorney) that the prosecution failed to share a police report that was somewhat exculpatory for the boys. This is a definite bozo no no.

Rove Leaving White House *With Reaction Update

The Architect moves on. Gigot: Irreplaceable. Bonus: No indictments! Story here.

Reaction today:
Novack:
Rove is one of the canniest and most successful managers in American political history. Yet he is viewed within his own party's ranks, especially on Capitol Hill, as part of the problem afflicting the Grand Old Party.Rove is unique, a rare political mechanic with a comprehensive knowledge of American political history.
Dan Froomkin: When historians look back at Bush's squandered opportunity to unite the country and even the world behind a shared agenda after 9/11, part of the blame will go to Vice President Cheney and the decision to invade Iraq. But part will accrue to Rove for choosing to use national security as a wedge issue. (Victoria:Gee, and all this time I thought it was the Deaniacs who did that.)
Lowry:
Rove gets blamed for polarizing American politics, but Bush had become a hate figure on the left by the end of the Florida voting controversy. After Sept. 11, Republicans won in 2002 and 2004 on national security, which Rove's critics say he unnecessarily politicized -- but, given the importance of the issue and the deep divisions between the parties on it, this was legitimate, indeed unavoidable.
Corn: But leaving is too good for Rove. He was Bush's partner in the Iraq war, yet he (like other Bush aides, including, most recently, Dan Bartlett) are abandoning ship before the fight is done. Rove has argued that the Iraq war is essential for the survival of the United States (that is, for all of our families). So how can he walk away with the war not won?

Charges Dropped Against Cory and Ryan, The McMinnville Spankers

Mark Lawrence, their attorney, is on the show tonight. The bottom line is the worst charges against them have been dropped, but the prosecutor insists on still holding harassment charges against them. GIVE IT UP, ALREADY!
We understand that prosecutors said they dropped the misdemeanor sex abuse charges because "it would be too burdensome to prove that the touching was sexual in nature."

Brad Berry, Yamhill County DA, 503 434 7539. Be nice, but firm.

ALF, ELF, IDA, PETA: Turning More Violent?

A California physician who's the poster child for the Animal Rights Movement is advocating violence. Local police beware, the gauntlet has been thrown. Read all about Dr. Jerry Vlasak here. H/T Matthew.

"I don’t think you’d have to kill too many [researchers]. I think for five lives, 10 lives, 15 human lives, we could save a million, 2 million, 10 million nonhuman lives.”

None of Their Business? Shouldn't it Be?

"I've never asked somebody if they're legal or illegal," said Lt. Jason Gates, spokesman for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. "It's none of my business."

VICTIMS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS JUST DOING THE HARD WORK AMERICANS WON'T DO. From Dani Countryman, top, to the Newark, New Jersey college students, middle and bottom, shot execution style by an illegal alien from Peru (who by the way had already RAPED A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD), we've got a lack of will on the part of LOCAL AUTHORITIES who claim it's not their job to get rid of people who aren't supposed to be here. I say it IS their job.

We don't need to import rapists and murderers to this country.

And the Newark, New Jersey execution style murders of three college students? One of the accused killers was illegally here from Peru.

FOX News has learned Carranza, who has a fake Social Security number, had been arrested on charges of raping a 5-year-old girl and then threatening the child and her parents. In that case he faced a 31-count indictment.

In another, he was arrested on assault charges stemming from a bar fight.

Immigration officials apparently were aware of Carranza's illegal status since his prior arrests, according to Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura.

**Update: They are Day Laborers and Accused Murderers.

*Clackamas County officials tell the Victoria Taft Show that these two are day laborers just ("just doing jobs Americans won't do").
So this whole Shrine to Crime Day Labor site that Tom Potter's so intent on building for illegal aliens should be in trouble--PR wise---but probably won't be. They don't care much about LEGAL, taxpaying citizens.
But one was already on probation for DUI. Surprise! Why wasn't he in the deportation process? Do county officials, judges, police, and sheriffs just wait until the crime is heinous enough to warrant deportation?
Is it any surprise that illegal immigrants commit a disproportionate amount of crime versus their number in the population?

Who DOESN'T know that? Don't they know that they commit a disproportionate amount of the sexual crimes as well?

And now this 15 year old girl is dead. And two illegal alien men from Mexico are charged with her murder.
They're 24 and 23. What would they be doing going after a 15 year old? Remember when the Mexican consul called for understanding because it was normal for 20-something men to go after younger girls because that's the way they do it in rural Mexico. But this is America. What the heck were these thugs doing here? Now they're charged with murder.
What should be the response of the state now? More easy to get driver's licenses? More hiring halls? A little sumptin sumptin from welfare? Why do we bend over backwards to help illegal aliens. And how must this make LEGAL citizens from Mexico feel?
From the Zero:

Two cousins are behind bars, charged with aggravated murder in the strangling of 15-year-old Dani Countryman, who was found dead late last month as others slept nearby in a Milwaukie apartment.

Authorities revealed few details of what led to the arrests, and much about the case -- including a possible motive -- remains a mystery.

Detective Jim Strovink of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office released terse descriptions of the suspects:

Alejandro Emeterio "Alex" Rivera Gamboa, 24, has been in the county jail since his arrest at the scene the day her body was found, held on a probation violation warrant for driving under the influence.

Gilberto Javier "Gabe" Rivera Gamboa, 23, a landscaper, was arrested Monday afternoon as he returned home to the Balboa Apartments on Southeast Courtney in Milwaukie, the complex where Countryman was slain July 28.

Should We Pay for Illegal Aliens to Take English Lessons?

A liberal migration group says, 'why, yes, you should!'
From the Zero!

Communities nationwide are failing to keep pace with a swelling demand among immigrants for English classes, a national study has found. And unless the investment in English instruction quadruples to an estimated $4 billion each year for the next six years, the widening language gap could prove costly for tomorrow's taxpayers.
The [(Liberal) Migration Policy Institute] institute estimates that an additional $200 million a year for the next six years should be spent to help 5.8 million legal immigrants speak English well enough to pass citizenship tests and to assimilate socially. In addition, about $2.9 billion a year for the next six years should be spent to help 6.4 million illegal immigrants to achieve proficiency.
For state Rep. Linda Flores, R-Clackamas, investing in adult English education hinges on one question: Is the person in the country legally? If so, Oregon should encourage and support English learning. If not, taxpayers should not be expected to pay to teach illegal immigrants English, she said.
If you can't pay to learn English should you be allowed to emigrate here? There are DOZENS of community colleges, private institutions, private tutors to teach English. English is the language of success. Should we allow people who can't make it emigrate here?

Track 'Em?

My friend Keith Thompson (Sane Nation blog at sfgate.com) notes that Newt Gingrich figures if UPS or FedEx can keep track of millions of boxes then why can't we keep track of people who overstay their Visas?
I figure if we can keep track of a old goats in Oregon with lojacks, then...
