Thank You, Dick Cheney.

The Vice President today announced that the Veteran's Administration would now allow family members to request the Flag Folding ceremony at military funerals.
One complaint at the Riverside National Cemetery sparked the ban. American Legion members, other veterans and rank and file Americans rose up with a collective raspberry at the move.

As most of you know, our nation has 125 national cemeteries operated by the VA. Burials conducted in those cemeteries should honor the wishes of the families, including those that relate to religious observances. And despite the confusing order that recently came out of the federal bureaucracy, I want you to know that honor guards at military funerals will give the 13-fold recitation at any service where the family requests it.

Yes, THANK YOU MISTER VICE PRESIDENT !! If the lefty, anti-Americans could be trusted to exhibit any patriotism or respect for our heroes this would not have been necessary. Shame on them all. They are as outspoken in defense of our country as the "moderate" muslims are in repudiating the islamo-fascists....and just as cowardly.

Yeah, Dick Cheney, three deferrments. Real hero this guy is. What a con artist. I am not fooled. Dick Cheney would never go into any battle himself, or any of his children would never either. But he has no problems with families honoring the dead of his war for his personal wealth. I choose not to thank Mr Cheney for anything that he does "for" our soldiers.

This seems like a simple enough solution, and qualifies easily for the no duh category.

A simple and common sense solution to what could have become a major offense by many. Yet, all he can receive from "some" is hate piled on top of their hate.

While hard leftist may "choose not to thank Mr Cheney for anything that he does "for" our soldiers," this Viet Nam Veteran thanks him heartidly for his stance and support over the years.

One might also inquire why legally obtained deferrments are so offensive, when the last candidate from the left himself had 4 student deferrments prior to enlistment after being denied a 5th and why the choice of the left in 1992 and 1996 actively dodged the Draft in his youth, once stating that he "loathed the Military."

Then again, declaring Troops as "ours" when they have consistently opposed the voluntary mission of the Troops and have continually empowered the enemies our Troops are fighting today, might be taken as an afront by many who have worn the uniform of the Military Service and faced the enemies of freedom.

Lew, if your belief that sending our troops into Iraq to obtain oil for his friends somehow translates to support. Please explain that. I have friends and a family member that have ACTUALLY had tours in Iraq. We have attended services for fellow soldiers, why is this just now being attended to? Because its politically convenient, thats why. Cheney knows he doesnt have much time left to pump our country dry of its last military resources. He might be able to get a few more hundred billion to his friends before some Democrat gets in and really screws up the middle east. The Dems certainly know how to run a war and this bunch doesnt do much better, but they are getting rich and they have Terrorism to hang over everyones heads, so you all buy it. I dont. Mitt Romney for pres, just like I said six months ago.

Rightwingwacko said...

How many flag folding ceremonies has the VP attended at the funerals of our brave soldiers? None you say? You have got to be kidding.

Lew Waters said...

cn, still stuck on that canard of "blood for oil?" Have you checked the price for oil, lately?

Then again, maybe you should look again at what I said. I said nothing about Cheney's support this time, but the support of the everyday common American Patriots and many Veterans.

Don't let your BDS get the best of you.

You wish to keep your head buried, that's your business. But ask yourself why the majority of Troops support Bush and Cheney

More "damned if they do, damned if they don't," wacko? Wherever Bush or Cheney go they are accused of just doing it for a photo-op. If they don't go, they are accused of being heartless.

Rightwingwacko said...

A pretty lame excuse for not attending at least one funeral of our brave soldiers. Guilt is more probable.

Lew Waters said...

More like not wanting to turn a private time into a media distraction.

No president, or vice-president, Democrat or Republican, is free to just enter or walk around as they may choose. The Secret Service protecting them sees to that.

You really do need to get help for your BDS. Don't think it will magically disappear January 20, 2009.

Rightwingwacko said...

Excuses. Excuses. For those of us who suffer from BSD perhaps you can help us. As a longtime sufferer of CSD, how did you overcome it. You did overcome it didn’t you?

Lew Waters said...

Do you mean BDS, wacko?

Sorry, although I think he was a very poor president and and his wife would be even worse, I haven't blamed any and every thing that went wrong on them, just what is obvious. Nor do I feel the need to inject them into every single discussion everywhere I go.

In fact, on my latest blog post, I mention that blaming them for the feminization of the Army isn't right as it started long before they got in. But, they did share a hand in it.

I have yet to see you BDS infected lefties give Bush any credit for any single thing. But, one of your cohorts felt the need to bash Bush in Victoria's post on bicycles in Portland.

Better luck next time, son.

Disingenous!

While Mussolini did make the trains run on time, any good he did was overshadowed by his wrongdoing. So it is with Bush, whose frauds, follies and felonies, have done so much damage to this country domestically and internatonally, that one is blinded to any good that he may have done. As he slinks out of office in January of 2009 he will not be remembered for the good.

Lew Waters said...

Only by the lefty's, Cheesey, only by the lefty's. But, you do show the world BDS very well.

Hard Cheese said...

Keep trying to push that rock up hill. At least it keeps you occupied.

Victoria Taft said...

I'm sorry, I just got to this conversation, what felonies has Bush perpetrated. Must have missed them.

Lew Waters said...

Don't you know, Victoria? It is a felony to the left for them to be barred from changing election laws during a recount, so they can favor one of their own.

To them, it is a felony to fight to protect America instead of knuckling under.

It is a felony to the left to have served as a Fighter Jet Pilot in the Texas Air National Guard instead of 4 months in Viet Nam shopping for medals.

Of course, no lefty has answered yet as to why Military Service was so crucial in 1988, 2000 and 2004, but doesn't matter in 1992, 1996 and 2008.

While making a special flight from Texas to DC to sign the Terry Schiavo bill, but not being able to find his way to Arlington for even one military funeral is not a crime, it does not show class and leaves one the target of disturbing speculation.

Ordering surveillance of US citizens without court authorization 50 USC 1801-1811 is clearly a felony eventhough it will not be prosecuted.

Lew Waters said...

camryn, please do some research before speaking, you won't look so foolish that way.

US citizens are not being surveiled, unless they have been in contact with known Al Qaeda agents outside the country.

Funeral attendance by any notable, Democrat or Republican, under Secret Service protection would be major distraction for the families. Perhaps that is why Bush has met privately with so many familes, something I don't think any other president from either party has ever done.

camryn said...

You should read the statute before giving a knee-jerk response. You will find that it is you who are foolish.

Rightwingwacko said...

Well, Lew looks like you stepped in it this time.

By his own admission, George W. Bush violated, and is continuing to violate, the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) -- U.S. Code Title 50, Section 1805 (Unauthorized surveillance).

Further investigation could uncover additional violations and co-conspirators (with Gonzales and John Yoo likely to top the list), but we know everything we need to know to find Bush guilty on the charge of Unauthorized surveillance.

The case that Bush violated FISA is a simple one. The evidence is readily accessible to the public. It is an irrefutable prima fascia case that can be easily conveyed to the American people.

George W. Bush's violations pose a grave threat to the principles and institutions we established under the Constitution for the United States. While the violation of individual rights is intolerable, it is Bush's claim that his unitary authoritarian power puts him above the law that is truly devastating. Given the gravity and urgency, members of Congress have a sworn duty to take immediate action to defend the nation.

Lew Waters said...

yadda, yadda, yadda, show what innocent citizens have been being unduly surveiled. Yes, one was mistakenly taken into custody, and I believe quit handsomly rewarded for two weeks "inconvenience."

As for the "statute," you chillun's might be find this intriguing, An Evaluation of the Legality of the NSA’s Terrorist Surveillance Program

Or, DECLARATION OF FBI DIRECTOR LOUIS J. FREEH

Sorry to disappoint you, whacky

Klatu said...

I hear that Vice President Dick Cheney invited Rep.Dennis (i've seen UFO'S) Kucinich on a Hunting Trip.

Rightwingwacko said...

Citing a rightwing blog as authority and a Declaration not on point is not convincing. Yes, I am disappointed in you.

Lew Waters said...

Too bad you didn't read the right wing blog and the citations fro he research, whacky.

If you have felony evidence against Bush, Cheney, et al, file charges and let's have a trial. Worthless pontificating is a pusillanimous stand at best.
