Earl, since the Oregonian article says today you get a 'ping' everytime someone blogs about you (read here) I thought I'd mention some reading you need to do before you blow up the chances of our winning in Iraq by calling for immediate troop withdrawal--again. Please read the Iraq Report here. No, really, read it.
Here's an excerpt since maybe your crackberry doesn't open attachments:
• Operation Phantom Thunder is the first coordinated campaign against the insurgency in Iraq. It has a greater chance of success than discrete operations.
Conclusion • If the offensive in the belts is successful, Baghdad will be more secure because fighters and weapons will not flow freely from the suburbs to the city. • Engaging the Iraqi population in counterinsurgency efforts during clearing operations in Baghdad and the belts challenges the insurgency in Iraq. • A series of follow-up operations may occur in Baghdad or elsewhere in Iraq after Operation Phantom Thunder. • The Corps designed Phantom Thunder to last for several months, and it will take time to determine whether it has succeeded.

Earl, Ya there?
Don't hold your breath waiting for him to reply, Victoria.
It appears to me that he, lockstep Democrats and turncoat Republicans are scared to death that the 'Reinforcement' and Petraeus's strategy will work. So, they must increase the pressure for our defeat before it does.
Amazing how our elected representatives want us to lose a war so bad. I wonder if they have their wives and daughters burkhas already?
I see alot of should, if and the term chance of success in this statement. I am not convinced spending more of my tax dollars is a good idea on this extension of the conflict, this loooks like another attempt at buying more time for the war, we have been told too many times, wait and see, wait and see.
cnskate, I don't want any of my tax dollars being used to fund illegal immigrants, but no one cares about that.
I'll give you a quote from nancy Pelosi when she was booed and heckled by anti-war leftists recently. The article on it was printed at The Hill.
To them she said, “Instead of fighting with us, which is your right to do, let’s work together.”
Now, imagine if the Democrats that voted their support for General Petraeus and the War on Terror, Iraq theater had followed Pelosi's plea to the anti-war leftists booing her, instead of all the politicization they trumped up for political power.
Wars are unpredictable. But, Al Qaeda and other radical extremist jihadists are openly saying their intent.
So, do we surrender to terror, or fight them and remain free?
I have not seen any statistics on the numbers of Al Qaeda actually exist in Iraq and I would love to know when our military conduct missions and kill people in Iraq the identification of those people as being Al Qaeda. I see a pattern that if someone is not for our military in Iraq they are Al Qaeda supporters or communists. This is simply not true. I would like to see Al Qaeda and its backers go away, I have not seen any actual facts on the identification of that groups numbers and the reduction in those numbers from this war. I dont actually feel threatened by Al Qaeda eliminating my freedom here. I am more threatened by some left wing president using the executive privelege clause to run my life. I have been reading that so much progress has been made in this war, if thats the case, if it ended tomorrow, we will have won, right? Our military cannot fight this war forever (in Iraq), and our president and vice have said repeatedly the war on terror is not a war we can win. So if the Iraq war is part of the war on terror and we are making progress there, isnt it possible to pull our troops out and fight the next stage of the war on terror? Like finding Bin Laden? Or, even better, ensuring our financial interests are not at risk in another terrorist attack which requires no troops or bombs or missles, but does require diplomatic pressure and harder work that ordering soldiers to kill people, which, the last time I checked is rather un-Christian.
Hey CNskate,
This is what you need to know about the numbers of al qaeda: there are enough of them killing innocent Iraqis and our soldiers. They need to die now.
so, you have proof that the people killing our soldiers are Al Qaeda? and what is this nebulous organization, who are they, really? it sounds like anyone that is against ending the war and wants our troops that were ordered to kill their families out of Iraq is Al Qaeda, and Bin Ladin is still free. Our army can stay in Iraq forever, the Al Qaeda will survive. You dont get it. Our government has the ability to make the world not hate us, instead, our army is used as a catalyst in conflict. I do remember Cheney saying the insurgency was in its last throes over three years ago. Once again, explain how much longer you actually believe this war will last. Not what you want, but what you see from the facts presented so far. I see facts that show the war is making significant progress. Lets end it on a good note. Al Qaeda will exist, we will not kill them all in Iraq or even in Iran. Our military intelligence has reported most of Al Qaeda is in Saudi Arabia and is funded by royalty there. Stangely enough, our president and his vice are pretty good friends with that family. Corruption abound, soldiers dead, and I am most fearful of Hillary saying, Bush did it and running our lives with the left prodding her all the way. Buy Exxon stock, excellent dividends.
cnskate, is the word of , Ayman al-Zawahiri good enough for you?

Sorry, but you'll have to copy and paste the urls, feeling too lazy to make them links this evening.
If you don't realize it, Ayman al-Zawahiri is the deputy leader of Al Qaeda, second to Osama bin Laden.
Cnskate,
Tell me what does it feel like to be responsible for carnage that occurred after we left SE Asia. Cambodia lost 40% of it's population not to mention those in South Vietnam who lost their lives.
Does it feel good?
Do not even go there about Iraq and how we got there. That is not important at this stage, what matters is we are there now and we sould not repeat the departure that occurred in Vietnam.
I have had my fill of those who hate Bush so much that they are willing to pin a another loss on our military and leave countless others to die,
You demand proof that we are fighting Al Qaeda. It does not matter who, we are fighting, they are killing civilians and that alone should be enough for us to hunker down and support fighting them. In case you have not noticed that if Bush fails then we as a whole have failed.
It is now a matter of Honor that we fight and we should be patient with those who seek to end the carnage. In case you have not been paying attention the reenforcement of troops now complete has had some positive effect before all had arrived and before they have started full scale operations.
Do you not find it strange of how quick politicians are to declare the reenforcement a failure before operations actually begin.
We need to come together and support what the troops are doing and not give the enemy a victory here at home.
The alternative is failure and responsibility for more lives, again you cannot blame it on Bush that is a cheap copout.
CNSkate,
Read the report instead of being a troll.
