Federal agents swept through a major fruit and vegetable processor in North Portland this morning as part of a criminal investigation of a national employment agency's alleged scheme to hire and employ undocumented workers.
Agents searched Fresh Del Monte Produce at 9243 N. Rivergate Blvd. and two offices of American Staffing Resources, the target of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement probe, after an investigation that began last December.

Every time I listen to public officials commenting against sucessfull ICE raids I get sick. Every one of them seams to cry when these criminals face the consenquences of their actions and spend our money making the families of these criminals feel warm and fuzzy when they should be investigating these familys as to their legal status and, if merited, send them back with their loved ones, thereby perserving that particular family unit.
I would like to see these beloved public representatives face the realities of illegal immigration and have 10 families move into your neighbors house, and face the noise, pollution, and crime that comes with that. Since I have seen 10 families living in 3 bedroom houses, the number should be upped acourding to the size of their neighbors house.
Wonder what they would be singing then?
Too bad Potter didn't show an inkling of his outrage against those who burned a soldier in effigy and defecated on a burning American Flag in Portland as he does against ICE agents carrying out their legally mandated responsibilities.
I'm sure glad I don't reside in Portland.

Illegal Worker Probe spurs Raid in OREGON(AP) U.S. federal agents on Tuesday raided the offices of a food processing plant suspected of employing hundreds of illegal workers who used Social Security numbers that belonged to other people or were made up, authorities said.
By Tuesday morning, approximately 100 workers had been placed under administrative arrest to be processed for possible deportation, an official with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said. More arrests were expected, the official said.
The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to talk about the case ahead of a news conference scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
According to an affidavit filed by Maximillian Trimm, a special agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, only 48 of nearly 600 employees at the Fresh Del Monte Produce fruit and vegetable processing plant had valid Social Security numbers.
Prosecutors said a federal grand jury had indicted three people on criminal charges, but the indictment remained under seal.
The raid at American Staffing Resources Inc. offices at the plant was based on an investigation by ICE and the Social Security Administration that began in January, the official told The Associated Press.
Separate American Staffing offices also were searched, along with a Fresh Del Monte office, officials said.
A federal judge authorized agents to search for evidence of violations such as hiring illegal aliens, identity theft and Social Security fraud, according to the U.S. attorney's office in Portland.
Federal prosecutors said that 20 of the Social Security numbers being misused belonged to people older than 60, and that 29 belonged to dead people.
Aeryca Steinbauer, spokeswoman for CAUSA Oregon, an immigration rights group, was outside the Del Monte plant as agents were interviewing workers, but she said she had not been able to talk to any of them.

coboble, no it's completly acceptable (and in fact comendable) for private parties to reach out to families of criminals. However, listening and reading the reports on this raid two things became evident:
1.) The city of portland started some type of emergency response team to comfort the families. This wasn't a public outreach, but a political stunt to undermine ICE.
2.) A report by KATU (which I will dig up and post tomorow, it's late for me) stated that several family members of those arrested "obtained legal status as a result of the raids(sic) Portlands response to the raid(/sic)"
Granted, it is a report from the mass media so take it with a grain of salt.

It isn't opposition of policy which is the indicator of hate, It is the reasons for the opposition and the comments made during the process which often indicate hate.
Why does reading this blog often anger me, yet I can read Another Blog, where the author (and audience) obviously opposes the same bill, and I feel no anger, and often find myself agreeing with the author?
Maybe it is the type of arguments being made, and the tone of the arguments.
I was told by the ICE spokeswoman that the PPB DID help: They directed traffic while the feds did their jobs. I'm not kidding.
I sent an email to Mr. Potter this morning asking him to do the public a favor by resigning. This will spare Portlanders the hassle of going through the recall petition process!
I also gave the executive board from Fresh Del Monte Produce notice that my family would no longer be purchasing their products.
I only wish we could boycott Potter with the same effect!

My comment was addressing how when leftists like Joe-Anybody don't have any logical or sane argument to back up their emotional outburts, they almost automatically revert to labeling whoever they are discussing anything, especially a conservative, as "hateful."
It isn't hate to expect visitors to our country to obey our laws. When I was stationed overseas, even in Viet Nam, I was subjected to the UCMJ as well Vietnamese Law. Same when I was in Germany.
