TAX DAY

The GOP has added up what it would cost Oregon taxpayers if all the Democrat tax increases go into effect this legislative session:

$2751.90

Per taxpayer, EVERY YEAR, by full implementation by 2010.

The Taxpayers Association of Oregon says:

Jason Williams of the Taxpayer Association recounts the taxes that have appeared in the last 30 days in the Oregon State Legislature, “The State Legislature has had public hearings on (1) breaking the Measure 5 property tax limits, (2) creating an impact fee on new homes (3) creating an excise tax on new home construction (4) creating a real estate transfer tax (5) changing the kicker tax refund so it would be returned less to taxpayers (6) renew the 3% utility tax on your electric bill (7) eliminate the double majority tax protection for special elections (8) raising the corporate minimum tax for just existing in Oregon as a business (9) increase the cigarette tax (10) increase the cigar tax and placing expiration dates (sunsets) on much of the tax credits the public enjoys.”

as usual, we see Victoria telling exaggerated tales on her blog, if you read into each of those taxes, you would see it clearly that most of us are not subject to those taxes or refunds taken away. Victoria, I hate taxes too, but, I hate that my tax dollars are given to companies that steal from our government and military in the Iraq war, if anyone wants to know why the Dems are trying to get us out of the war that is the real reason. Wasted money that dissapears once its sent in CASH to Iraq. And who is it that balanced the budget last? Was it Clinton? Bush blew it on his chronies and Republican donors. Thats why my family does not vote republican anymore.

What happened to the Car Insurance Tax? What about the Beer Tax.
Vote these guys into office and we don't even get the right taxes.
I am tempted to move to Washington for at least a year, and sell all my stock while I live there, and then save all the money to spend when I move back to Oregon.

Thank you Lew, for reminding me of the more charitable side of what my tax dollars are used for.
I would prefer it be charity by choice rather than force.

klatu,

I get that I am a liberal (to those who are very conservative).
However, money management is one area where Republicans have historically done a better job than Democrats. But the Libertarian party has all the other parties beat in this area (at least in ideals, real practice is yet to be seen).

I think that government sponsored charity leads to a mentality of entitlement rather than a mentality of appreciation.
But I am very much in favor of Charity when it is given voluntarily.

Klatu said: Oh Really coboble
Show me which History books (that havn't been tampered with)that I should be looking at for those great fiscally responsible Libertarians in office?????

1.Republicans believe in Small Government, Less & SENSIBLE Regulation.

2.Democrats believe in Big Government, Regulate everything

3.Libertarians beleive in No Government - No Regulation

and your in # 3 AAA Coboble???

Ps: Yea Democrats believe in forced "Redistribution of Wealth" instead of voluntary charities as Republicans believe.
