Central Planning, Secret Planning

Over at Jack Bogdanski's blog: What everyone knew, warned about, said out loud---except the city and OHSU. The upshot? Biotech good. BIOTECH IN PORTLAND, not so much. Hey, let's build some condos. Find it here.

One problem is that 70% if Americans oppose the surge(escalation). So were not just talking about Democratic opposition.

therlfeld,

Do you really know what an escalation means. Attacking Syria or Iran would be an escalation. Sending more troops to Iraq is an reinforcement of troops already in the field. The democrats oppose this because they fear it would succeed and that is the last thing on this planet they want to happen. You are claiming that 70% of Americans are against success or the possibility to succeed.

Apparently you hate Bush so much that you are willing to do anything to insure failure. My problem with this is that any failure reflects on all of us and cannot be held just against Bush and or the republicans for that matter.

I would not place so much belief in opinion polls since there numbers are easily manipulated by those conducting the poll.

Are we talking about the same thing?

I liked the picture of the Otter.

Isn't that area a flood zone?

So why do we have a tram if 70% of the people opposed it?

Wait, I'm confused.

CORRECTION: 70% of those "SURVEYED" oppose the Troop reinforcement.

Wars are not won by consensus or polls. They are won by fighting them with everything you have, when needed.

As was pointed out, the tram in Portland was opposed by a majority, but you got it anyways. Light Rail is opposed by a majority in Vancouver. Pollard is going to shove it down our throats anyways.

Oh, now I see the correlation.
Reading is not my best skill.

Lew, I like accuracy, thank you.
Interesting how a few words really make a difference.

Stop the Trolling, threlfeld. BTW: they may be opposed to the war, but they're not in favor of losing. That's the difference between them and the Democrat "leadership."

Kodiak,

Thank you Victoria,
Because at least you see there is a difference. I am not yet certain about the Democratic leadership, and do not want to believe they would want any bad to occur to others for the sole sake of their own political gain. But I do see that they might want to play politics at a cost to others, where the average anti-war citizen would not.

[side note (just in case anyone with their own blog cares):
To those of you who use blogger and have your own blogs, There is a bug (or feature) which causes the loss of comments and comment ability on the post being edited.
It is invoked by using the backspace to get back to an edit screen after saving. So just don't do this to avoid the bug. I have had this happen multiple times. First I thought it was correlated with having html errors in my post. But now I see that it can happen without an html error. So don't use back, just use the edit option on the view page]
