We want to be an open hearted society but it gets even harder when things like these show up and are the beliefs behind the Reconquista (La Raza, MEChA) movement. Here's a wonderfully illuminating video narrated by some of the biggest political names in California state politics who claim (every last one of them) that the Latinos are taking over so get used to it.

Taft v Martens: Oregon SOS Spokeswoman Called Out By MSM

Anne Martens, Secretary of State Bill Bradbury's spokeswoman, scripter and scribe, has opined on a blog (here) that I, Operation ID, State Representative Linda Flores, and anyone else who believes in getting a handle on illegal immigration and halting free long term benefits to non US citizens is a racist.
When she began catching flak for writing this screed, she issued a 'disclaimer' (here) attempting to placate those who wondered if the chief spokeswoman for the SOS could be fair and objective in dealing with the issue. The SOS's office, of course, controls the elections process in the state of Oregon and therefore could check (as we requested) for citizenship on the new, but alas, compromised data base of voters in Oregon. She IS the SOS's spokeswoman. She belittled the OPERATION ID letters before she received them thereby dismissing out of hand the requests contained therein.
Well finally, the MSM has our back. The Albany Democrat Herald weighs in calling out Ms. Martens on her attempt to have it both ways: Unbiased at the office AND anti illegal immigration reform, bomb throwing, screed writing partisan on her own time. What the DH fails to point out below is that until she was caught in the act, Martens didn't believe she had to separate private from professional. The arrogance with which the SOS's office (and others) operates is the problem. They don't believe you matter. Only their agenda matters. The personal was the professional. That's the way it has been in Oregon and that's why it's time for a regime change. I'm glad she outed herself for all the state to see.

To hear Mr. Abbasi tell it the entire recent history of the U.S. could be narrated with the help of the image of "the last helicopter." It was that image in Saigon that concluded the Vietnam War under Gerald Ford. Jimmy Carter had five helicopters fleeing from the Iranian desert, leaving behind the charred corpses of eight American soldiers. Under Ronald Reagan the helicopters carried the corpses of 241 Marines murdered in their sleep in a Hezbollah suicide attack. Under the first President Bush, the helicopter flew from Safwan, in southern Iraq, with Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf aboard, leaving behind Saddam Hussein's generals, who could not believe why they had been allowed live to fight their domestic foes, and America, another day. Bill Clinton's helicopter was a Black Hawk, downed in Mogadishu and delivering 16 American soldiers into the hands of a murderous crowd.

Here's something you might find interesting; they all (Iran, Al Qaeda) think GW is an aberration and believe the old cut and run strategy will resume once G-4-3 is gone. It is a symbol of Resistance as well as a symbol of Unity amongst Mexicanos, Salvadorenos, Chilenos, Puerto Ricennos, Cubanos, and all other Raza. Chicano has come to represent the strugles and fight of all Latino peoples.

"No way, not gonna happen," were the words spoken by his spokesman when asked by Eric-the-Great-Peterson, producer extraordinaire of the Victoria Taft Show (6-9pm M-F on AM 860 KPAM) if the Governor could be there to receive the more than two thousand letters from my four listeners (see post on Anne Martens below).
Unfortunately for the Governor, who's now embroiled in a mean reelection campaign, it certainly would not hurt him to meet with the dozens of people coming to the Capitol tomorrow. After all, he couldn't be doing much WORSE, could he? Check out the latest polling here. So, he won't meet with people with jobs who have taken a day off to come to Salem to tell him how important cracking down on government spending and programs for illegal aliens are, but he will meet with, who?
As for meeting with Anne Martens' boss, Secretary of State Bill Bradbury, considering she's already staked out the turf for her boss by referring to me and Jim Ludwick of Oregonians for Immmigration Reform as racists, well you won't be surprised when she said that gee, "Bill will be tied up in meetings all day..."

Gosh, I suspect Bill Bradbury might be busy sorting his socks. His official spokeswoman (pictured at right with Lars) said today on a LEFT WING BLOG she thinks we're a bunch of racists. In a blog entry Anne Martens reflects on the racist heritage of Oregon and she refers to the likes of me and Jim Ludwick of Oregonians for Immigration Reform as racists in chief. And she calls me a mini Lars. That's Anne Martens with the real Lars and that's me next to them. I don't think I look a thing like Lars. So, in short, if you don't have the law on your side attack the individuals and call them names. Names like racists. Wow. Deep. Untrue but deep, man, deep. Here's IndyMedia's entry. ...There has been more and more anti-immigrant sentiment lately. And by anti-immigrant, I mean anti-Mexican. I'm sick of it. It's time to call this what it is: racism.
...And then there's Jim Ludwick, 2006, who writes in last Saturday's McMinnville News Register, "The fact is that current immigration policies that allow in 2 to 3 million legal and illegal immigrants per year are overwhelming our public schools, our public health systems, the criminal justice system (about 30 percent of the inmates in federal prison are noncitizens), the livability of our communities and eventually our natural environment." The language is a tad toned down, but the intent and meaning are the same.
Mr. Ludwick is the founder and President of the artfully named Oregonians for Immigration Reform, which is holding a Capitol Steps rally at noon on Friday. With Rep. Linda Flores, who must make an extra-effort to overcome the ill effects of her Hispanic surname. And KPAM's darling, little Lars herself, Victoria Taft.
Ms. Taft has collected letters from the four people who listen to her radio show, demanding that state services require applicants to show proof of citizenship. (More self-promotion, tongue-in-cheek this time: what would Jesus do?) Of course, it is already required by law that you be a citizen to be eligible for state services.
And let's be clear. The immigrant bashers are not bashing Russians or Vietnamese or any other large community of immigrants in Oregon. Nope, they've focused their bile on Mexicans. I wonder why.

IRAQ-AL QAEDA CONNECTIONS: 9/11 COMMISSIONER SAYS OOPS!

And don't forget: Saddam used WMD.
**9/11 Commissioner Bob Kerrey on the Iraq-Al Qaeda Connections. Bob Kerrey had to have known about this meeting that already had been disclosed. It's notable, but not terribly surprising, that Saddam gave permission for this meeting which is what this latest document dump revealed. Stephen Hayes has reported about this meeting in his book, "The Connection," and subsequent articles in the Weekly Standard. If Bob Kerrey is surprised at the extent of the connections between these two people and groups then I want a 9/11 Commission do-over because these people DIDN'T DO THEIR JOBS!

"I personally and strongly believe you don't have to prove that Iraq was collaborating against Osama bin Laden on the September 11 attacks to prove he was an enemy [of the U.S.] and that he would collaborate with people who would do our country harm," the Nebraska Democrat explained.

Here's the latest on the exploited docs found in post Saddam/war Iraq from ABC news:

A newly released pre-war Iraqi document indicates that an official representative of Saddam Hussein's government met with Osama bin Laden in Sudan on February 19, 1995 after approval by Saddam Hussein.

That OBL and the Taliban are in contact with Iraq and that a group of Taliban and bin Laden group members visited Iraq [1995].
That the U.S. has proof the Iraqi government and "bin Laden's group" agreed to cooperate to attack targets inside America.
That in case the Taliban and bin Laden's group turn out to be involved in "these destructive operations," the U.S. may strike Iraq and Afghanistan [2001].
That the Afghani consul heard about the issue of Iraq's relationship with "bin Laden's group" while he was in Iran.

The last line in Stephen Hayes latest article in the Weekly Standard [see previous posts here and here.]about captured Iraqi documents in post war Iraq that connect Abu Sayyaf, the Phillippine terror group headed by Osama bin Laden's brother-in-law with Iraqi officials and specifically Saddam's right hand man. He quotes from the latest Foreign Affairs whose reporters have seen even more of the captured docs:

The Saddam Fedayeen also took part in the regime's domestic terrorism operations and planned for attacks throughout Europe and the Middle East. IN a document dated May 1999, Saddam's older son, Uday, ordered preparations for "special operations, assassinations, and bombings, for the centers and traitor symbols in London, Iran and the self ruled areas [Kurdistan]." Preparations for "Blessed July" a regime directed wave of "martyrdom" operations against targets in the West, were well under way at the time of the coalition invasion.

So...are we to divine that Saddam, in addition to funding the terrorists in the Phillippines, Hamas, and Al Qaeda, also funded the July Londistan attacks?
Hitchens, meantime, in the latest Opinion Journal piece, claims that "Iraq is no 'distraction' from al Qaeda. ***NEW*** Here's Hitchens on Hugh Hewitt's show on how the media *of course* have an impact on the war effort! Quoting from a letter the Kurds intercepted in February 2004 from Zarqawi to bin Laden on his plan to start sectarian strife in Iraq :

"These [Shiites] in our opinion are the key to change. I mean that targeting and hitting them in their religious, political and military depth will provoke them to show the Sunnis their rabies...and bare the teeth of the hidden rancor working in their breasts. If we succeed in dragging them into the arena of sectarian war, it will become possible to awaken the inattentive Sunnis as they feel imminent danger."

BAGHDAD -- Three years on, the U.S. military is finally becoming adept at fighting a counterinsurgency war in Iraq. Sadly, these are precisely the skills that should have been mastered before America launched its invasion in March 2003. It may prove one of the costliest lessons in the history of modern warfare.
I had a chance to see the new counterinsurgency doctrine in practice here this week. U.S. troops are handing off to the Iraqi army a growing share of the security burden. As the Iraqis step up, the Americans are stepping back into a training and advisory role. This is the way it should have happened from the beginning.

Tensions eased after an Iraqi brigade commander, a Shiite, rolled his armored vehicles into the Sunni stronghold of Tarmiya and told local imams that his men would protect their mosques against Shiite attacks -- and that in return, they must control Sunni militants. "He laid down the law," remembers Col. Jim Pasquarette, who commands U.S. forces in the area. The crisis gradually eased there, with U.S. forces mostly remaining in the background.
"This is the hardest thing I've ever done," Pasquarette says of the new rules of counterinsurgency. "In the old days, it was black and white -- see a guy and shoot him. But counterinsurgency is a thinking man's sport. Every decision you make, you have to step back and say, 'What's the next thing that's going to happen?' " He says he drills his troops to remember the "three P's" of the new Iraqi battlefield: "be polite, be professional, be prepared to kill."

The Governor has announced that he no longer will send his representatives to the Carousels of Crime once a month because they 'no longer' are open to everyone. In a a lame attempt to decoy the untrained reader into believing that something has changed about these Carousels, the Governor uses the phrase 'no longer.' But only illegal aliens are invited to these confabs. Ever. Anglos are not invited. Ever. Even illegal alien anglos. These Carousels are designed to provide state and federal benefits to illegal aliens. Period. They are designed to give illegal aliens Matricula Consular cards for idenification purposes to get free stuff in the United States. The Mexican government doesn't use or honor matricula cards. They're for use in the United States only. For illegal aliens. Who came to this country ILLEGALLY. Against the law. Abridging sovereignty.
Now what we need to do is stop issuing driver's licenses to people who are in the country illegally, and forcing Bill Bradbury to check to see if the thousands of people on the new voter data base are citizens. He so far refuses using the excuse that the feds haven't ordered him to do so although he could check if he wanted.

Here the Oregonian reveals its naivete, purposeful or otherwise, on just who is given the 'free stuff' at the Carousels of Crime:

The Mexican Consulate will hold more than a dozen Carousel of Information events in Oregon this year to issue "matricula consular" identification cards to Mexican nationals. The consulate does not ask people whether they are U.S. citizens or legal residents of the United States when issuing the cards.

Here's what the governor now says about the Carousels of Crime. Note how he suddenly notices that only Mexican Nationals in the United States ILLEGALLY are invited to the Carousels of Crime:

But on Friday, the governor's office informed agency directors that the state will discontinue its participation because the events are no longer open to everyone.

But what does the governor's move mean exactly? Confusion ensues as we devine the triangulations of his spokeswoman:

Kulongoski's spokeswoman, Anna Richter Taylor, said the governor has not changed his position and his decision was not politically motivated. "He still feels it's important and an obligation to ensure that all who are eligible for public services have the information they need."

The Labor Commissioner, Dan Gardner, apparently needs to get our Operation ID letters:

Labor Commissioner Dan Gardner says the Bureau of Labor and Industries will send a representative to today's Carousel in Medford.
"Our job is to help employees and make sure they know what their rights are under the law and be sure they're not being taken advantage of," he said.

And clearly Hardly Matters, the Attorney General, and Secretary of State Bill Bradbury don't feel the heat yet:

"The attorney general believes the department's consumer protection efforts are effective in any forum that would reach consumers that may be victimized."
The secretary of state will also continue to distribute its guide to starting a business in Oregon through the consulate, a spokeswoman said Friday.

Here's the Mexican Consul's response.

"I'm disappointed, of course. But of course we are respectful,"[emphasis added] Oregon Consul General Fernando Sanchez Ugarte said in an interview Friday. "Since immigration is a hot issue and being discussed by candidates for governor in our state, it has also come to affect our work."

Hillary Clinton on Illegal Immigrants: Confusion

Hillary Clinton says she's against illegal immigration. But...

This week Senator Clinton said

Some Republicans are trying to create a "police state" to round up illegal immigrants.

In November she said the United States should give Hurricane Katrina funds to help illegal immigrations.

Mrs. Clinton urged Chertoff to "terminate removal proceedings against those [illegal immigrants] who were placed in proceedings after they sought assistance."
Other Senate Democrats who signed onto Mrs. Clinton bid to obtain Katrina aid for illegal immigrants include Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Maria Cantwell, Barack Obama, Russ Feingold, Daniel Akaka, Frank Lautenberg, Joe Lieberman, Carl Levin, John F. Kerry, Chris Dodd, Pat Leahy and Jon Corzine.

In December 2004 she said:

In an interview on WABC radio, she said: "I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants." "Clearly, we have to make some tough decisions as a country, and one of them ought to be coming up with a much better entry-and-exit system so that if we're going to let people in for the work that otherwise would not be done, let's have a system that keeps track of them," she said.

Right after 9/11:

... in the Congressional Record of Jan. 21 Senate Amendment 233 forbids any federal funds appropriated under the act from being used to remove, deport, or detain illegal aliens who happen to be related to victims of Sept. 11.. . The Hillary amendment will prevent the Department of Homeland Security from taking any action to deport spouses or children of Sept. 11 victims who came to the US illegally and used phony documents.

In the March 2005 estimate two-thirds (66%) of the unauthorized population had been in the country for ten years or less, and the largest share, 40% of the total or 4.4 million people had been in the country five years or less.They made up a large share of all workers in a few more detailed occupational categories, including 24% of all workers employed in farming occupations, 17% in cleaning, 14% in construction and 12% in food preparation.

Portland's Professional Protesters Come out in Force to Support Law Breaking Illegal Immigrants and to call for complete amnesty for illegal aliens already in Oregon. Oregonians for Immigration Reform responded protesting against Illegal immigration and in favor of LEGAL immigration. How is that racist again? Yeah, racists are what these good people were called because the only way the Portland Professional Protesters (PPP or P-3) win the day is by mischaracterizing the other side and going ad hominem. A big hard news story unfolded yesterday in downtown Portland that WAS NOT REPORTED in this morning's OREGONIAN But our only daily paper completely "overlooked" the story. I fought deadlines on three big city dailies and I am astounded.OFIR, Oregonians For Immigration Reform, DID hold a counter march and Jim Ludwick, Pres. and Rick Hickey, VP, bravely confronted some of the open border crowd.Rick was handing out your "Operation ID" letters for signatures. That is a wonderful program. My letter went in long ago. Thanks for ALL you have done.

The AFL-CIO tool Prop 200 to court to stop the law from being enforced to the tune of $100 thousand dollars for one court case ( whcih they lost ) what do you think the union members think of that Rob ?? spending their hard earned money to slit their own throats?? hmmmm??

Why did...

People who signed the petitions calling for the repeal of Erik Sten's and Gary Blackmer's so called "Clean Campaigns Initiative" sign the petitions 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 times? Were they, uh, encouraged, to spoil the petitions knowing if they did that HUNDREDS of signatures would be thrown out of the tally to get this on the ballot? In fact it's because of the multiple signers that the repeal initiative failed to make the ballot. Coincidence?

See, this clean campaigns initiative was an attempt to circumvent the will of the voters by using the force of their Portland City Council offices to vote themselves payment for theirs and others' campaigns and throwing the voters a bone to vote on it later--you know, after a couple of election cycles.

The multiple signers' names have been turned over to Secretary of State Bill Bradbury's office where, I'm sure, he'll give it his undivided attention. See photo above.
