Air America was, it appears, created to skirt the campaign finance laws that one of the Democrat's standard bearers, John McCain, oh...and Russ Feingold, imposed on the rest of us. Now after Al Franken helped drive the network (?) into the ground with his 'show' and helped, to some extent anyway, to get his democrats back in power, he's leaving. See story here.

SNL was (is) Garbage, AL FRANKENSTEIN is Garbage, they're is nothing funny about Liberal Humorists and L_EQUALS_bs Posts are Garbage. Other then that have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and shop at WAL-MART
Now that Air(head) America is defunct, maybe Feingold and Franken can return to the complete obscurity they so richly deserve and the rest of the country needs from them.

I can't shop at WAL-MART, I am boycotting them. The problem is, in order to avoid hypocrisy, I now have to boycott a whole bunch of other stores as well, and I have no idea how to obtain the material items I so desire.
One of Franken's and Air America's largest shortcomings was their message. The majority of Americans, I believe, are turned off by the negativity. Sadly, too many fell for it and stayed home on Nov. 7.
If more of our entertainers and even cretins like Franken spoke messages as this Australian singer did, maybe they would have faired better in broadcasting.

coboble, I have listened to Al, at least in a much greater proportion than to that of Victoria. I'd have to say I find Al funnier than Victoria, as in I don't find Victoria funny at all, nor do I think she attempts to be. I honestly have no preference for or against either, as my life does not revolve around, nor do I form my political views based on the morning or drive time "entertainment." What I do know is that no matter how crappy Victoria, or any one else, may think Franken to be, simple facts like rating numbers stand. So if you're going to gloat about the (rumored) demise of one in a similar industry as yourself, you'd probably want your ratings to be better than the one you are mocking - at least I would.

Funny, I kind of figured station ownership and affiliate management had far more to do with the success or demise of a broadcast medium than what any of the "entertainers" can or can't do. Guess that's just me...

Didn't Al write some book that make Bill O'Reily upset or something. I used to to watch Bill during Presidential campaigns.
Coboble, conservatives did stay home. Of those that I know of that did, they fell for the line coming out of the lamestream alphabet media networks. While I believe some may occassionally listen to Franken, I don't personally know of any who listen to him on a regular basis.
As for tuning out, you will find negative on every discussion forum, comes with the territory, I'm afraid. People seem to get a big boost of courage when behind a keyboard. I just take it all in stride, but do get my feathers ruffled occassionally as well.
As for BOR, I used to watch him too and stopped some time ago when I realized he isn't much better than the likes of Franken. They have been feuding for a few years now and frankly, I find both of them boring as all get out.
How BOR has managed to stay popular is beyond me, given that Franken is pretty much a failure. Maybe BOR succeeded where Franken failed, to convince sheeple he is actually looking out for them.
I prefer looking out for myself.

This is Al's third trip to entertain the troops in the war torn area, unlike the stay at home rightwingers. Of course they are not very entertaining.

If the troops enjoy Frankens lack of humor, good for them. I doubt he gets his deep anti-Bush rhetoric in the act, though.

I've listened to Al. Does anyone think he's funny?
Al Franken was one of the first people to take on the right-wing blitzkrieg and he did it in a well reasoned, well articulated, and often amusing way. I hope that he doesn't leave AA in the near future but if he does I look forward to more books and a bright future in politics.
Franken is probably better known for his humorouse writing than comedic performance. He was one of the primary writers for Saturday Night Live. Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, and The Truth(with jokes) are hilarious.
"Lies and the Lying Liars ..." is quite the eye-opener, by the way. Ann Coulter fans would be wise to check it out and learn a little about what she is and how she does it (short answer: a liar, by lying).
After looking at, and listening to, some of his stuff; I do think he is funny. He isn't hilarious or anything, but he qualifies as funny.
The nice thing about being ambidextrous, is I get to laugh at both the left and the right.

The news is reporting Coulter is in trouble for voter fraud in Florida. I believe fraud includes an element of deceit. Some may even say lying. So far she has not been cooperating with authorities. It will be interesting to see how to how this turns out.
Gotta say, I tuned in to a little Al this morning, and the "negative political ad narrator campaign" recorded with Harry Shearer was pretty damn funny.

Lew if you actually have lived in Florida, then you should know better. In Florida knowingly voting in the wrong precinct is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. Strange but true. Of course Florida elections are generally strange.
Leftie, my birth certificate says I was born there. My high school diploma says I graduated there. Even my Army enlistment papers say I enlisted there.
Yes, Florida is strange, especially as Northerners took over the state. I grew up right in the middle of the area that most noted for the fiasco and trying to throw an election by changing the rules in mid-stream, until SCOTUS ruled they had to abide by the rules at the time of teh election.
Too bad too, so many people became afflicted with both BDS and PEST because of upholding the law.
But still, as news in the last couple years shows, trying to hang an outspoken conservative is much more important than protecting children from pedophiles, murderers and drug dealers.

It was the typical bias, but not envy.
It is interesting how someone with a strong bias can back up their bias by choosing what to believe and how to interpret, and even what to read.
What is interesting, is to take a debate class, and be required to argue the opposite side of something you have a strong belief in.
(Had I know the instructor was headed in this direction I would never have indicated a strong belief in anything I really cared about.)
This has been fun, but I must move on and read something of value which might actually help me make informed decisions when I vote.
