My flag flies proudly everyday. It was once stolen, pole and all. I simply went out and got a larger one.
Yea my flag flies in my vehicle (POWERED BY OIL,GASOLINE) 24/7 365 days a year.
It would sure be refreshing to see any of the lefty's post here that they too fly the flag.
Five years ago, I worked in a medical office building in Somerville, Mass., just over the Boston city line. (Yes, I'm a Masshole originally, no doubt a reason why I lean so far to the left on a lot of issues. No matter what anyone here says, it's a badge I wear with pride.)
I sat in my office on a boring, bright Tuesday morning. Our phones seemed to quiet down for some reason, which we thought was odd, when one of my co-workers got a call from her husband saying that both Trade Center towers had been hit by planes.
The internet froze up and we couldn't get updated information easily. Our only real "contact" to the news, not having a TV set in our offices, was listening to the radio. Howard Stern, actually.
We listened and kept hitting "refresh" on our web browsers, learning whatever we could. As a medical office, we couldn't just pick up and go home.
I didn't see footage of the attacks until 6 p.m. or so, almost a full half-day after it happened. By the time I saw video of everything, I already knew what had happened.
I left work with crying co-workers.
I left work knowing the planes had taken off from the city I loved.
I left work knowing that there might still be terrorists on the ground somewhere near my home.
I left work wondering if anyone I knew was on the planes.
I left work scared.
I was in Boston on 9/11. This entire event affected me more than you know.
This is not a matter of simply flying a flag.
If you wonder why I get pissed off at this administration, it's because the person who caused this is still on the loose. The resulting "war" was and is, in my eyes, an excuse to take advantage of a horrible situation, to finish off what Bush 41 started, and to try to build a legacy. This "war" was for revenge.
You may disagree, and that's fine.
I want justice. I want peace. I want Bin Laden found.
And if anyone has a problem with that, too bad.
That's the way I feel.
"As long as Democrats wish to divide and politicize..."
"It would sure be refreshing to see any of the lefty's post here that they too fly the flag."
lew, you couldn't just let America remember 9/11 without picking something to claim as "liberal" evil...and yet you claim it's the Democrats wishing to "divide and politicize."
You might want to consider that us "liberals" don't believe the test of our patriotism to be posting on someone's blog. Get a life, and some perspective to help temper your hypocritical attitude.
In one form or another, all of us who took time yesterday to remember our dead, our soldiers, and the unity we felt as a nation directly after 9/11, flew the flag.
Funny you two feel flying the American Flag, in America, would be considered as "liberal" evil
With all the verbiage you two posted, a simple "yes, I fly my flag" is all I was desiring. You see, it's your flag too, just as the terrorist wish you dead as much as me. Is it impossible to disagree yet both honor the flag?
Posting on a blog is only an extremely small measure of patriotism, if at all.
I use much different criteria than that.
"Funny you two feel flying the American Flag, in America, would be considered as 'liberal' evil"
Do you willfully make things up or do you truly not comprehend what others are saying?
Ms Taft:
The flag I fly is the American flag, which is the symbol of a country that once stood for freedom. At the rate the Bush administration is going, I think the more apprpriate flag for the righties is solid red, with a circle of white in which is place the swastika. But don't worry too much: the gubernment is after you only if you are Islamic, or communist, or immigrant, or socialst, or labor movement members, or . . .
The flag I believe in represents a country in which differing opinions count, in which alternate points of view are encouraged, and in which the freedom to disagree is a right.
Yours is not the version of the flag in which I believe.
strangelander, please list all liberties you have lost since January 20, 2001. NOt what you preceive you may lose, but what you have actually lost.
iknow, it seems to me that everyone is speaking their mind here. Does it upset you that a blog set up and maintained by a conservative speaks against liberal views?
Seems to me that we have one flag and we have been disagreeing with each other under it, freely. Other than your one profanity, I haven't seen your word edited.
Are you that thin skinned?
If being upset because I've been accused of being an "American in name only", of "not caring", and of "allign[ing myself] with the people who have declared the war" makes me thin skinned, then yes, I'm very, very thin skinned.
I don't care that Victoria's conservative and that other people disagree with my points of view. I'm totally fine with that. But when things like the above happen - repeatedly - I have to say, it really does bother me. How would you feel? Call me crazy, I guess I just don't like being demonized just because I lean to the left politically. I've never killed anyone. I've never been arrested. I've never driven drunk. But to judge by the reaction of some people here, I'm one step above Charles Manson because I happen to like Bill Clinton (who, I admit, was far from a perfect president, and who truly is a flawed person in general).
Iknow, you must be more tolerant of the righties. They are in a bad situation, between Iraq and a hard place. The righties are constantly reminded of the fiasco in Iraq and its detrimental effect on the War on Terror. They cannot defend their positions and must lash out.
Hey, fuzzy: The "righties" are at least defending our country by fighting for it. We are not doing all we can to knock it down and undermine everything the President is doing like the liberal lefties, who seem to be doing all they can to make nice with the terrorists. And we certainly are not in bed with AmINOs such as the AmINOCLU or the Air America dolts,
In Tehran(September 13,) Mr. Maliki(Iraq Prime Minister) met with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and declared afterwards that “even in security issues, there is no barrier in the way of cooperation.”
For his part, Mr. Ahmadinejad said, “Iran will give its assistance to establish complete security in Iraq, because Iraq’s security is Iran’s security.” It was not clear what form Iranian support on security would take, or how it would be regarded by the American authorities here. (NY Times 9/13/06
Tell us one more time what we are fighting for.
It's obvious, we have been fighting for the Axis of Evil. Iran wins. This Iraq fiasco is amazing. Every time I think it cannot get any worse, it does.
Thank you Bush for spending hundreds of billions of US taxdollars and sacrificing almost 3000 US military lives so far, all so that you could help Al Qaeda, Bin Laden and Iran achieve their long sought after dream of turning Iraq into another Iranian Islamic state because that is what will and is currently happening in Iraq. Such a thing will only make Iran stronger and a more dominant force in the Middle East to America's dismay.
I sincerely believe that an investigation should be conducted to determine which members of this administration are on the payroll of Osama and Iran.
Mongo, how about an investigation into just who is excusing and empowering Osama and his ilk?
I'm pleased to see Ahmanutjob has spoken about the security of Iraq and his guarantee of it.
Tell us one more time what we are fighting for.
September 30, 1938: "Mr Chamberlain declared the accord with the Germans signalled "peace for our time", after he had read it to a jubilant crowd gathered at Heston airport in west London."
"The German leader stated in the agreement: "We are determined to continue our efforts to remove possible sources of difference and thus to contribute to assure the peace of Europe.""
Editorial in the Daily Express (30th September 1938)
"Be glad in your hearts. Give thanks to your God. People of Britain, your children are safe. Your husbands and your sons will not march to war Peace is a victory for all mankind. If we must have a victor, let us choose Chamberlain. For the Prime Minister's conquests are mighty and enduring - millions of happy homes and hearts relieved of their burden. To him the laurels. And now let us go back to our own affairs. We have had
enough of those menaces, conjured up from the Continent to confuse us."
"My good friends this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honor. I believe it is peace in our time." Neville Chamberlain, September 1938.
History has an uncanny knack of repeating itslf, especially for those that forget it.
The only appeasement I have seen is coming from this administration. Bin Laden wanted our troops out of Saudia Arabia so we left. Bin Laden want Saddam gone and Al Qaeda to have influence in Iraq. We obliged. Osama wanted to be left alone in Pakistan. Our "ally" the Pakistani's have assured his safety, and not a peep from the administration. If the foregoing is not appeasement, then what is? Spin away. I still want an investigation.
I think we need to get past thinking this administration is stupid and inept. Quite simplly no administration can unconsciously make this many mistakes, pre-911 and thereafter while arguing to stay the course without making course corrections. As time goes on and we see that Osama remains free and the occupation of Iraq increases terrorism we must ask if there is a 5th column within this administration consciously doing the American citizens harm. Bush only does what he is told, but all others in the administration are suspect. I desperately hope the new Congress will thoroughly investigate.

I agree. Let us never allow Neville Chamberlain to rule again!
I agree. Let us never allow Neville Chamberlain to rule again!
Why do you think the country continues voting Republican? ;)
When it comes to Pakistan, Bush wears Neville Chamberlain's bowler.
Well, we have Geeorge Bush as President, and the United Nations has found that the torture situation in Iraq is arguably worse than it was under Saddam Husein. So much for our "liberation."
