If you had been president over the period in which there were consistent attacks by bin Laden (including a declaration of war against us) why WOULDN'T you want this damning movie yanked?
Here's the letter he had Bruce Lindsay write for him. Tell ABC here NOT TO CAVE!
So they want to yank a film that, based on results, is true. Now, let's talk about that President Bush assassination film, shall we?

Clinton Demands ABC Pull Path to 9/11 Film. Thinks it makes him look bad.

It strikes me as very odd (not really) that they question the timing of this movie, but laud hte release of Senate 'study' containing information publicly known for 2 years with no concern as to "timing."
The movie (from what I have read) as well as the 9/11 Commission Report states both President Bush and Clinton didn't do everything they could have.
For some reason, I bet Clinton et al have no problem with the scenes addressing Bush.
Hooray for our chains!
It's also interesting that the R leadership allowed them to issue this report at this time. I know they've been stalling, but they may as well have issued this idiocy two years ago and been done with it. Check out Thomas Joscelyn's quickie piece in the Weekly Standard. He brings up just a FEW instances that should have been looked into but were left on the cutting room floor. Look for more pieces from TJ this week and keep looking for Stephen Hayes' new book coming out soon.
Aside from my personal opinion that any movie, book, etc. based on historical events should strive to present the most accurate set of known facts over fictional dramatization, a commenter from another discussion couldn't state my position better. So here's the comment :
1) It's a damned movie.
2) If anyone is so concerned about what the movie might make the general populace think, they ought to spend their time and money telling the truth, instead of blocking what they fear might be seen as the truth.
3) The truth is always subjective.
4) It's a damned movie.
The one true beauty of living in the USA is that I may say anything I think about any politician's positions, voting records, actions, etc., without undue recourse (Excepting, of course, crossing the line into liable/slander). Let ABC - and, more importantly, the producers, directors, actors, editors, key grips, ... - have it's pseudo-commentary. Let it be called "art" or "freedom of expression".
If you think they are wrong, don't watch.
If you think it sounds interesting, watch.
If you think the unwashed masses (let's face it, by implying people will percieve the wrong thing, you are implying there are gobs of unwashed masses that must be coddled) will get the wrong message, educate in your neighborhood, quote the 9/11 report, get them to _read_ the book.
The only issue raised by this, or Michael Moore's project, or any other is the fact the we're scared the general citizenry - from which we're expemting ourselves implicitly - is expecting factual information from an entertainment source and will use entertainment based information in making political choices.
So, why don't we fix that, first?
r=bs: Your comments are precisely the same arguments made for "The DaVinci Code" and it made a fortune for the author. Critics and religious zealots madt it out to be everything from heresy on down. Now the Clintons and their Loyal and Obedient Toadies (oops, followers) want to censor this program because them "might be shown in a bad light". What they don't seem to understand is that they were shown in a bad light years before this program was even made.
Censorship of a free and legal company, like ABC, is just plain wrong. If the Clintons et al want to live in a country with censorship, they should find a country like the old Soviet Union was some 30 years ago, where all that was on TV was nothing but state-sponsored and controlled propaganda, and go there.
were was Billie Boy! when the lying Movie of MM fahrenheit 9/11 aired. he didn't asked to have it pulled.they made MM a hero. by having him next to jimmy the peanut. at the demo confab.
the liberals are always trying to silience the truth. if it don't agree with them.
victoria taft: the R leadership is week at best. they let the D lead them all the time. I don't think they know they have the mojo in congress.after 11-6-06 the D's will be in power. then the R leadership can follow the D's. for real.
I read a few minutes ago on Newmax.com that the only thing of any consequence that was taken out of the program was a direct reference to slick Willie and Monica Lewinsky. Other than that, it seemed to be very factual. And it did show up Madeline Albright and Sandy Burglar(oops, Burger) in an unfavorable light, which they richly deserve.
I missed the movide. Can anyone tell me if they showed the scene where the CIA tried to warn Bush about the threat on Aug. 6, 2001 and CIA sent analysts to his ranch in Crawford, Texas, to brief him and deliver a report entitled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US.” Bush was not pleased by the intrusion. He glared at the CIA briefer and snapped, “All right, you’ve covered your ass,” returned to a vacation of fishing, clearing brush and working on a speech about stem-cell research.
fizzi, watch part two.
Maybe you will see that the film criticizes both administrations and places blame with the terrorists.
By the time you all realize that Bush isn't the enemy, there will be a terrorist trying to slit your throat. Hopefully, there will be still some of us with the backbone to stop him.
If that does happen, just keep singing kumbaya until we get there, okay?
It is hilarious that Clinton did not get his way with ABC in getting the program pulled. Look for him to whine about it for some time to come.
And I would not be surprised if AlGore were to blame the fires in the towers as being another cause of the "global warming" rant he is on.
