Nearly eveyone said they were there and gave Saddam plenty of time with the sword rattling to allow him to spirit them out.
Now, it seems the left is falling all over themselves either claiming they were never there or Bush misled them over them.
Maybe they forget the claims they had made before Bush was even President.
Then again, if they were that easily misled to make such strong statements about them being there in the first place and if a dunce like Bush so easily misled them, do we really want then in positions of authority?
What other dunce will come along and mislead them over something this important?
This ignores conclusive assertions of intelligence officials that the degraded chemical munitions found were not, in fact, in the category of "weapons of mass destruction" that the U.S. was looking for at the time of the invasion. This also ignores the Iraq Survey Group's (ISG) September 2004 final report (also known as the Duelfer report), which noted that degraded chemical munitions had already been found in Iraq, and that they were not proof of an existing chemical weapons stockpile or of a renewed Iraqi chemical weapons program. Indeed, former ISG head Charles Duelfer stated that the munitions hyped by Santorum and Hoekstra do not qualify as weapons of mass destruction, though they may still pose a local threat.
Hey Mongo, since you seem to feel those "degraded chemical weapons" pose no significant threat, were you one of those opposing storage and disposal of our own degraded chemical weapons a few years ago?
Let me see if I get this right. By "conclusive assertions," there were no WMDs existing in Iraq, even after the world had proof they had killed thousands of people. By even more "conclusive assertions," once some are actually found, they are old, known to be there all along and pose no significant threat, due to being degraded. Right?
Since you seem to appreciate the Duefler Report, I take it you are well aware of the addendum that was added in March 2005.
Regardless, the following sums it up pretty well, I think.
“In the wake of September 11, who among us can say, with any certainty, to anybody, that those weapons might not be used against our troops or against allies in the region? ...can we afford to ignore the possibility that Saddam Hussein might accidentally, as well as purposely, allow those weapons to slide off to one group or other in a region where weapons are the currency of trade?”
Like I have repeatedly said, with nearly the entire world and members of both parties believing there were there, It would have been negligence not to act on them.
Tell me how many of these so called degraded chemical munitions be reguired to kill say 3000 people?
How many people are required to die before they can be considered WMD's.
Your statement gives me the impression that these munitions were completely harmless.
Give me a break. Chemical munitions are WMD's. Just because they have degraded does not make them harmless.
Fizzi,
It does not matter how many degraded chemical munitions Saddam had before the war he was supposed to have NONE period. Degraded or not they were in the class of weapons that are considered WMD's.
I need another break. Look attitudes like yours is going to get me and others killed esspecially if your way prevails.

Gads Lew, one comment. Imagine that.

Hey Mongo, They've got a job at Hanford for you.
hey, lew, isn't "negligence" what liberals wear to bed? (with apologies to negligence everywhere.)
Bear, I thought "negligence" as a new cologne for the left, LOL.
won't pass the smell-test, though.
A desperate claim by those who wish that we could find some new way to rationalize the ongoing devastation in Iraq.

Still no confirmation by the President or DOD. Nothing outside hardright media. Strange.
Mongo7, the latest WMD claims are bogus. Even the Administration has the good sense not to join in this lie.
Yes, the 500 or so tubes are old so they don't exist.
Enjoy your kook-aid, boys.
