Pray

"The U.S. military said Monday that seven American troops have been wounded, three insurgents have been killed and 34 detained during an intensive search for two missing American soldiers
The Defense Department identified the missing men as Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, of Houston, and Pfc. Thomas L. Tucker, 25, of Madras, Ore. It said Spc. David J. Babineau, 25, of Springfield, Mass., was killed in the attack. The three were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Just curious; are the American captives being supplied with Bibles, American food, a Pastor, ACLU ambulance chasers, access to the world media, etc., etc., and lefty demands for their release? Didn't think so.

A sad reality of warfare. My hopes and prayers are these men will be released unharmed soon.

Still, even those on the left can't believe they will be treated as well as those in Gitmo that the left wails are being so mistreated.

The fastest end to this war will be when (and if) they receive the support and encouragement and materials they need to win. The only acceptable "exit strategy" should be victory!

I agree with you.

But now comes the harder part: define victory in this situation.

My condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of these young men. They gave the last full measure. Would that their leaders were willing to do the same.

Excerpt from Firedoglake: Jane Hamsher

"Read this entire article. Every word of it.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/06/14/AR2...

This is what I have been hearing from retired military, folks who have recently come back from Iraq, diplomatic types, intel folks...you name it. Over and over again. Still.

I am so angry this morning, I could scream. I do not care what political party you are in, I do not care what you think of dissent during a time of conflict...if you do not get angry reading this article then you do not in all honesty support the troops. What you support is propping up an Administration that is more interested in selling itself through false public relations campaigns, and the hell with the effects of its actual policies on the men and women in uniform who are risking their lives -- every freaking day -- because they are bound to follow the orders in their chain of command by their code of military conduct.

And those orders are given by a President and a Secretary of Defense who are more interested in covering their own asses than taking care of their men. I have had it with people who cannot see it straight out: you give the orders, you take responsibility for the consequences of those orders. It's about goddamned time this President stood up and took responsibility for something...anything.

And if he won't, then it is up to us to hold him accountable. Yes, I have damn well had enough."

Can't you see it? The two soldiers' death shows the U.S. is winning.

Baghdad may be more dangerous that it was three years ago, and there may be more unsavories in Iraq than ever, and there may be an ever burgeoning body count, but look, it's part of the master plan of staying the course and gaining complete, total victory in ten or fifteen years.
Victory means casualties, casualties mean votes, votes mean wholesale theft, theft means---

David, Victory would be arming and training the Iraqis to stand on their own. Of course, we would need to continue support, but most likely without massive troops there. There will be no quick end to this, that's for sure. But, do we cut and run again and leave another ally on the trash heap of terrorism?

Mongo, if you'd like us to read an article, it might be beneficial to actually place a link to it, or at least one that can be copied and pasted and reach the article.

From your excerpt, it seems to be another lefty slam against Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld. That's my assumption. However, I too know quite a few retirees, Veterans and returning troops from Iraq and so far, nearly all are in support and those still on active duty look forward to returning to finish the job.

If any are that fed up with America, the borders are open and no one is stopping them.

Two soldiers deaths are not the end of the war either, other than the left will sensationalize them to encourage support for the cut and run to leave the Iraqis high and dry, again.

Your anger is grossly misplaced. Animals that would do such things deserve death, not to be elevated as "freedom fighters."
