Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute in Atlanta analyzed 1,500 cases from January 1999 through April 2006 that included serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides and child molestation committed by illegal immigrants.
Schurman-Kauflin concluded that, based on a figure of 12 million illegal immigrants and the fact that more of this population is male than average, sex offenders among illegals make up a higher percentage than offenders in the general population.She arrives at the figure of 240,000 offenders – a conservative estimate, she says – through public records showing about 2 percent of illegals apprehended are sex offenders.
"This translates to 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sexual offenders coming across U.S. borders illegally per day," she says.
She points out the 1,500 offenders in her study had a total of 5,999 victims, and each sex offender averaged four victims.
Schurman-Kauflin breaks down the 1,500 cases reviewed this way:
- 525, or 35 percent, were child molestations
- 358, or 24 percent, were rapes
- 617, or 41 percent, were sexual homicides and serial murders

Illegal immigrants who commit sex crimes first cross the U.S. border illegally. Then they gradually commit worse crimes and are continually released back into society or deported. Those who were deported simply returned illegally again.
What's a realistic solution to help correct this problem?

Backwards: The remaining 70% of those molested were American citizens. Do you really think that your 30% are more important than the legal 70%. As far as sex crimes being committed against anyone, legal or illegal, that cannot be tolerated at all. But your implication is that those 30% who are illegal and sexually molested should be more disturbing than the other 70% is just another example of you putting the illegals here ahead of the American citizens who were born and raised here, or naturalized here. THAT in itself is disturbing.

I made no such implication kodiak. I only wondered if these 30% would not be considered simply because they are illegals. What you have said below is exactly the response I had hoped to hear.

I guess I'm not an advocate for politicizing such crimes to fit a particular agenda, especially if it's going to be used to demonize those who don't fit one's particular view's on the current immigration debacle. Couldn't you see this easily played as "those who are for amnesty or open borders are for rape and murder?"

I agree on border security. It's too bad it has never been much of a political priority.
Would having cops checking legal status accomplish much, if it's already known that those who were arrested and deported for similar crimes, just came back in? If an illegal can get forged SS numbers and ID that allows them so much at the taxpayer expense without detection, how would an officer on the street determine they are illegal?

bear, I disagree. I find soumynona does a very solid job of sticking to the subject, and not taking cheap shots at his opponents, even when they show him no comparable respect.
And Ms Taft, why would it matter if suomynona did work for a non-profit entity. You have expressed many opinions that coincide with the opinions of many of the sponsors of your show. I do not think anyone would suggest you adopt your opinions merely because your sponsors have the same opinions. I certainly do not feel that way. So why do you raise a comparable suggestion against those who do not agree with you?
