ANALYSIS ON THE IMMIGRATION BILL COMING. HERE'S WHAT NUMBERS USA HAS TO SAY ABOUT IT SO FAR.
Here's what Daniel has to say about it. Immigration expert Michelle Malkin weighs in here. Here's the Oregonians for Immigration Reform website. Here's the FAIR website.
From the WaPo:

"Under the agreement, the Senate would allow undocumented workers a path to lawful employment and citizenship if they could prove -- through work stubs, utility bills or other documents -- that they have been in the country for five years. To attain citizenship, those immigrants would have to pay a $2,000 penalty [the price of a coyote], back taxes [with phoney SS#'s?], learn English[let me guess, we get to pay for these, too], undergo a criminal background check [and nothing will happen] and remain working for 11 years [then collect SS?]. Those who have been here a shorter time would have to return to one of 16 designated ports of entry, such as El Paso, Tex., and apply for a new form of temporary work visa for low-skilled and unskilled workers. An additional provision still under consideration would disqualify illegal immigrants who have been in the country less than two years."

You must be joking. Illegal aliens are already supposed to be deported. Why would the government start magically doing it under this bill? Answer: they won't. Result: Amnesty

Well the game is up if Congress and the Senate will not defend our borders our goose is cooked. Might as well stick the fork in US we're done.

If laws are not enforced why have them in the first place. If the border is not enforced why have one.

We can either do one of two things lie down by our bowls or we can continue to put up a stink until the Congress and the President come around to our way of thinking.

Congress is about to take a break. We might want to make sure they go back thinking they may just face replacement in November if they do not get their act together.
Easier said than done.

..or we can continue to put up a stink until the Congress and the President come around to our way of thinking.

What you have to do first is realize and accept you are the minority, reacting as if you are the majority.

I am convinced now that illegals are voting - in numbers - and they voted their man and administration back into office.

Can't blame Bush for taking care of his base.

Welcome to the third world, folks. Embrace ignorance, poverty, corruption, and criminality. Learn Spanish (wait a minute, that's a european language, isn't it?) and welcome the permanent underclass, just like mehico.

ignorance, poverty, corruption, and criminality

What!? Bear, you mean this doesn't already exist in America....?

BEAR said...

until now, only by choice, but I see you're already there.

Khaldun said...

bear, maybe you should take a moment to go look up ad hominem...(sigh)

I and all my family members (6)called them today..told them to vote "YES" on the Senate Agreement. I say, "Welcome to our future American citizens".

If our Republicrats in government won't take the issue serious, maybe the fourth arm of the government should. "We The People," the real strength of the country, should find out who is employing these illegals and make it known publicly. If the Republicrats won't shut them down, we can do as the left always does, demonstrate outside their businesses and boycott their products.

Ideally, employers of illegals should be jailed, drying up jobs for illegals.

If you ask who would fill the jobs then, ask yourself, how can we have "jobs Americans won't do," and at the same time, have so many on welfare, unemployment and serving time in prisons. Many High School kids could also fill the jobs duing the summer, the original reason they have the summer months off anyway.

If our representatives won't act on this matter, then it's up to "We The People."

All isn't lost until it's actually over.

Should there be amnesty for those who hired illegal aliens?

Relative to the $60B annual cost of the Iraqi civil war, how big a problem is I2? After the costs of implementation and the increase (I'm assuming) in the cost of food and manufactured goods, what will the net benefit of your solution be in lower taxes and increased security?

Khaldun said...

...ask yourself, how can we have "jobs Americans won't do,"..

Ever heard the term "Mc-Job?" The social construct of American capitalism requires the desire for bigger and better. Your success as an American depends on your status, income, and job title.

So how is it again that we can have jobs Americans won't do? Simple - we tell them it's beneath them, it won't bring them happiness or success, and they can and should strive to do better. And if someone does fill one of those "Mc-Jobs," they had better be young, dumb, and ready to go back to school at the end of summer vacation. They need to continue to pursue the American dream, right?

Lew said...

As usual, suomynona, you choose to bury your head in the sand and ignore the point of a comment.

What makes me laugh is how you lefty's always cry about an underprivileged underclass, yet seem ready to create one doing these 'jobs' you claim "Americans won't do." With all the Socialism around, paying many to do nothing, why should they work?

Of course, there are many who actually need the assistance, but there are also many who contribute nothing. Tie their "freebies" to ardous labor "Americans won't do," and who knows, they may be compelled to become viable citizens.

In the meantime, embrace the 'underclass' the left seems to create by encouraging under par wages for illegals.

Khaldun said...

Lew, capitalism is not generally a "leftie" trait...

And, your point wasn't missed..it's just funny how you act like it's some new great idea to exercise your constitutional rights ("as the lefties do," like it's something reprehensible).

Lew said...

Lew, capitalism is not generally a "leftie" trait...

Tell that to all the "lefties" striving for and justifying keeping an underclass of illegal immigrants in the country working for less than minimum wage in often substandard conditions just so prices will stay low (or so they often claim).

Khaldun said...

That's great "politico speak," lew, but your only trying to pigeonhole "lefties" in claiming they want slave labor for bigger profits.

So are the "lefties" capitalists or socialists? Please make up your mind...

Lew said...

You figure it out. All I do is repeat the words of prominent lefties who advocate having so many illegals come in to do cheap labor.

As to Socialist or capitalist, look to the wealthy in Hollyweird who comaplin about everything, but make sure their millions are kept intact.

Let that tell you something.

Khaldun said...

Quote(s), please...with sources...

More games? Try listening to daytime radio with both ears open where many have their recorded words played, even without transcripts. In the interim, here are a few quotes from others;

Pastor Robin Hoover of Humane Borders, "Our nation virtually posts two signs on its southern border: 'Help Wanted: Inquire Within' and 'Do Not Trespass.' Without the help of immigrant labor, the US economy would virtually collapse. We want and need cheap immigrant labor, but we do not want the immigrant."

Senator John McCain (don’t even call McPain a Republican, at best, he is a RINO) responded by saying immigrants were taking jobs nobody else wanted. He offered anybody in the crowd $50 an hour to pick lettuce in Arizona.
Shouts of protest rose from the crowd, with some accepting McCain’s job offer.
“I’ll take it!” one man shouted.
McCain insisted none of them would do such menial labor for a complete season. “You can’t do it, my friends.”

"It's quite clear that immigrants lead to lower prices of goods and services, and the lower inflation helps boost the economy, and that helps all Americans," Jared Bernstein, of the liberal Economic Policy Institute.

If you eat that lettuce in a restaurant, the chances are good that you will pay much more for it, for the disappearance of this cheap labor will increase prices throughout the industry. The same is true for landscape companies, house cleaning companies, car washes, countless factories and more. Steven Smith, Daily Pilot, Costa Mesa, Ca.

The farmers who grow most of the nation's winter vegetable crop say they won't have enough workers - legal or otherwise - to harvest all the produce when the season hits high gear next month.

Growers in the winter farm belt that stretches east from California's arid Imperial Valley to Yuma County in Arizona will fill barely half the 50,000 field hand positions needed to gather the region's tons of ripening produce ……. Growers blame more frequent patrols and raids targeting illegal workers in agriculture, tighter border enforcement and the migration of undocumented workers to better paying or less physically demanding trades. Doesn't it sound a whole lot like Backward Anonymous might himself be an employer of illegal aliens?

Khaldun said...

OH yes, I employ illegal workers...(oh brother)...

lew, the most prominent person on your "lefty" list is McCain. Call him what you want but he is a registered Republican..otherwise you've got a preacher leaving water in the desert so people don't die (compassion, imagine that from a Christian) - and a couple of reporters...hardly prominent "lefties" as you call them.

Why don't you just admit that there are people on both sides of this issue, from both the right and the left - instead of trying to paint the (inaccurate) picture that only "lefties" want immigration reform?

Khaldun said...

Psst, hey lew, tell me who they are talking about here -

But in a nod to business leaders who support temporary worker programs that would ensure an easy supply of low-cost labor, he spoke passionately about the need to put out the welcome mat for those from other countries.

I'll give you a hint, you most likely voted for him..

westsidedavid said...

For five years, George W. Bush has been playing two sides of this issue, harping about national security, but refusing to implement effective border controls because he and his business cronies have wanted a huge pool of cheap labor that would keep the cost of labor low in this country. Now the people are saying enough is enough, and demanding that some controls be put on this. Now, Bush must decide: does he really support the American working calss -- which wants real immigration control -- or does he support his business cronies -- who want a giant guest worker program? It will be interesting to see who he sides with.

Lew said...

Backwards anon, too bad you don't listen to more daytime radio. If you did, you could have heard Saint Hitlery pandering to the protestors in New York today telling them how they make our economy work by doing menial jobs for often lower wages.

Sounds an awful lot like she was admitting they were an underclass to me.

Just because there isn't any easily found transcript on the internet doesn't mean they are saying it.

As for your quote, yes, I voted for Bush and totally disagree with him on immigration and am sorely disappointed in his handling of it all. Still, the alternatives in 2000 and 2004 would have been far worse.

Khaldun said...

Uh oh lew..

JD Hayworth says conservatives want cheap labor, democrats want cheap votes.

Shall I repeat my question?

Why don't you just admit that there are people on both sides of this issue, from both the right and the left - instead of trying to paint the (inaccurate) picture that only "lefties" want immigration reform?

Lew said...

Backwards anon, give it up. What do you think my "republicrats" description was about, huh?

BTW, JD Hayworth is only partly correct. Seems there are several quite liberal celebrities and political appointees that have had house servants that turned out to be somewhat "undocumented."

That being the case, maybe it isn't only conservatives that desire "cheap labor."

Regardless of who, it still sets those who are here under the radar as an underclass, an illegal underclass that many Democrats and several RINOs seem to feel will vote for them.

Khaldun said...

(sigh) Every time you lay out some "only liberals" statement like that, you know I'm gonna ask for some examples..

Let's try a different angle.

Under the guise that you're so caring about an underclass of poverty, you'd rather send all illegal immigrants back to worse conditions of livability and poverty than revise the current law to make it easier for people who want to be here, as a positive contribution to American society, legally?
