See below: "All of them are Iraqis and affiliated to different terrorist groups and especially al-Qaida in Iraq," Maj. Gen. Jassim Mohamed told The Associated Press. "But we don't have confirmed reports that they were behind Samara bombings." BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) — Interior Ministry forces captured a top aide to al-Qaida in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi during a raid in western Iraq, state television reported Monday.Also Monday, the Defense Ministry reported Iraqi security forces had killed 35 insurgents and arrested 487 in nationwide raids since Wednesday, when bombers blew up a major Shiite Muslim shrine in Samarra, 60 miles north of Baghdad.

Also today: did you see the story of how Germany fed the US Saddam's war plan for Iraq one month before the invasion? And how, at the end of the story, the NYTimes calls the people who kidnapped the Christian Science Monitor stringer "militants" and not terrorists? What does that make Zarqawi, bin Laden, Zawahiri--militants?

Sorry, I'm not with the administration on this one.
I was opposed to going into Iraq in the first place. And Rumsfeld has shown himself to be one of the most incompetent Defense Secs we have had since say Aspen under Clinton.
However since we did go into Iraq we should have hit hard and play to win. Yet the Bush administration has never amped up the military to the point of achieving victory. We are in, out, playing nice, playing tough... But don't dare offend anyone.
Then we start the draw down now we re-start the build up.
We either say g'd*mn it we are all in and going to root out every frickin terrorist. OR... We pack our bags and get out.
I am beginning to think that the administration like the unrest. Needs the unrest.
One thing we are not hearing and that my friends that are still in the military (no they are not ALL retired by now thank you) is that most of the elected Iraqi officials have their own militias. It is said you need a militia to have any power at all.
Then low and behold I hear the same thing on Fox News Sunday.
So... that's nice.
The NYT calling these terrorists "militants" is the same as Cindy Sheehan calling them "freedom fighters". They are just about the worst kinds of criminals in the world (with the possible exception of Hitler and Joe Stalin). To be apologist for this bunch is every bit as criminal, in my opinion. The ACLU -alQaida Civil Liberties Union - would love these people. As for the ACLU, I think the ABA should look into disbarring at least all their top leaders for the crime of sedition.
