Guess it Takes One to Know One?

Well, if you didn't believe the Democratic Party was anti-Christian, I guess their choice of offerings to their blue state acolytes confirms it. A blogger shout out to orbusmax.com

How are those anti-Christian and why do they qualify the entire Democratic party as such?

The fish symbol is a commonly seen Christian symbol. You see it on the backs of several vehicles today.

I will give the Democrats credit for pulling it, but why haven't we heard anything about what happened to whoever it was that put it up on their site?

I can't speak for Victoria, but when I mention the Democrat Party, I usually mean the leadership of the party. Obviously not all Democrats are bad, you do have a couple Zell Millers left.

BTW, Eric, I was born and raised in the old Solid Democratic South and was a staunch Democrat, until Jimmy Carter.

Any more, I am a Conservative first before any party membership.

Hey Lew. I hope I haven't come across as aligned with either party - both have good points, both bad. But the worst practice of both is to use any opportunity, no matter how far fetched, to demonize each other.

My personal opinion - it was terribly irresponsible on the part of the people that work on the WA democratic party website to post that, but think it's inaccurate and a big stretch as an example of how the "Democratic party" hates Christianity, or Christians.

Eric, I too detest this jump at any chance coming from both parties today.

You've had Democrats lately saying the DeLay and Cunningham indictments point to the complete corruption of the Republicans. The bashing of Bush from Top Democrats has been endless.

During the Clinton years, we saw Republicans dragging up every thing they could about him, although I don't recall Republicans saying the Party was corrupt to the core.

In the meantime, little gets done in D.C.

I did not take Victoria's words as the entire party just beacuse she said "Democrats." But, the symbols were placed on the Democratic Parties website. The silence is deafening coming from the leftstream alphabet media over this considering the outrage they have shown over similar slip-ups from the right.

The one ribbon, "Support Diversity" makes me laugh the most. Drop by Daily Kos or Democratic underground sometime and see just how diverse it is there. There is little if any "tolerance" for views from the right. Free Republic is right, but grants a bit more tolerance to left wing views.

But overall, I agree. This left vs. right rhetoric dating all the way back to Algier Hiss has gotten out of hand. Time for a strong third party, I think.

That being said, I wonder if we'll ever get to see all of the Barrett Report? ;)

Lew, I know you and I are not the only visitors here - are we the only ones that either

a. Talk about the boring stuff?
OR
b. Have way too much free time?

Maybe the others would rather debate which one of those choices best describes us?

I understand that the fish symbol is a Christian symbol., but how is it's use here "anti-Christian"?

The use of "Hypocrite" makes a point through irony -- Christians are supposed to "love thy neighbor" and "turn the other cheek", right?

Except for, you know, unprovoked wars and death row executions (for the record, I like to consider myself anti-death penalty, and every time I convince myself to oppose it, somebody does something so horrible that I start to swing the other way on the issue. Tookie Williams probably got what he deserved.).

While this modified symbol really doesn't have any proper place on a Democratic website, it's hardly "anti-Christian".

Let's cut to the heart of the matter here: I don't care what anyone's religion is. I really, truly don't.

But what I *do* care about, and what bothers me the most, is the whole, arrogant "I'm more moral than you" garbage that spouts from various sources on the right. I'm looking at YOU, Sean Hannity!

I'm tired of hearing about how immoral I am because I do not worship someone else's god. I'm tired of people bashing Bill Clinton but sucking up to Newt Gingrich (do a Google news search on his divorce -- real moral stuff there).

And so on.

Victoria's definition of "anti-Christian" in this case is wrong, plain and simple.

Anonymous, you have every right to be as wrong as you can be ;)

Your assesment of what a Christian is supposed to be may not be what other Christians feel. For instance, your little dig at Christians are supposed to "love thy neighbor" and "turn the other cheek", and unprovoked wars and death row executions.

Take a gander at John 15:13 when you get a chance. Words to effect of, "greater love hath no one than they give their life for a friend."

None of this means that everyone professing Christianity actually lives up to it. Then again, who is anyone to judge another as to whether they have a relationship or not with God? That is personal.

The symbol was derogatory towards Christians in general, much like if the Republican Party placed a Donkey magnet on their website that said all Democrats were Jackasses. Individuals may do it on their own, but neither party should engage in that.

Whoever placed that symbol there may not realize it but a large portion of the Democrats are indeed Bible believing Christians.

Like I said before, I credit the party for removing that and hope they dealt with whoever placed it there. I also grow tired of the one upmanship coming from both parties when the White House changes hands each time.

It's long past time for the tit for tat childish games to stop.

Eric, I openly admit to being Conservative, but you and others might be flabergasted to find out that I too can compromise on some matters, but remain hard and steadfast on others.

The rhetoric about the war while our troops are in harms way angers me the most. Still, many people are very hesitant to discuss anything related to the Bible or Christianity. Lots of misconceptions out there.

Not flabergasted at all Lew. I 'think' it's evident that you and I agree more than not.
